@ballisticbullets I've read a few of the accident reports for those things. I am shocked its still in working condition.
They were selling a couple of the old silos. I wanted to buy one and turn it into a Fallout themed underground bed+breakfast, but I didn't have good enough credit for a 1.2 million dollar loan.
@Kimcotupan15 Air inlets are tricky to work with, but they save the part count, so I think it's worth it. I'm glad you like my plane, and thanks for your support.
@EliteArsenals24 I'm going to make an effort to keep my builds as mobile friendly as reasonably possible, Bogdanx taught me that. But I'm scared that the part count on my next project will be difficult to keep low.
@GreenGiraffeAerospace I am very sorry. If it makes you feel any better, Mikoyanster has done that to me 3 or 4 times now. That guy puts out good planes almost twice a week.
@AviownCorp That's how the real designers work, right? Engineers look back at other planes and make a new design to improve on them. It's all fictional untill someone builds it. That's kind of the cool thing about your style. Your planes could be real.
@AviownCorp Both. I start off the overall shape using line-art (usually from wikipedia) and I try to measure out the wingspan and length to the pixels in the line art picture. That way I can just measure everything in MSpaint. But I frequently mess up measuring something (in this case, the wings are 3 feet too wide). Then I get photos of the plane to see where the important details are. Sometimes the line-art is wrong and I have to guess using photos. Is all this sounding crazy to you? Because I think I sound crazy. People complain about replicas getting all the attention, but I really do put a ton of time into it.
Oh, and I also look for videos of the plane to see how the parts move. Mostly landing gear. Landing gear is weird the way it folds up.
@FastDan Balancing is just a matter of trial and error. I set the speed to the cruising speed of the real world plane, if the nose drops then I lighten the nose a little, if it rises then I add a bit of weight to the nose. I also have to keep the COM away from the front landing gear and the COL. But I can move the COL wherever I want because the real wings are tiny and hidden and I can put them wherever I want. The ones on the outside are just for show.
Its funny how much time I spend cheating to make the plane fly honestly.
Anyway. Usually complicated planes have problems with the drag being uneven. The game is really weird about drag, but its cool they include it all so I don't get mad. If the plane turns too much to one side, I twist the vertical tale in the other direction untill it flies straight, more or less. Usually it only takes a very small twist, this plane here has its tail offset by 0.65° Remember, I use hidden wings, so no one sees it's crooked. Just trial and error. Move it too far one way, then halfway back, then halfway forward again, smaller and smaller till its good enough.
@FastDan Almost every part is set to 0.01x mass, so very few pieces weigh very much. I have a few moving parts that are normal weight (to avoid bugs) and a couple very heavy blocks to keep the plane balanced properly.
Keep learning new tricks. Look at the stuff that gets lots of votes and pull it apart to see how it was made. Test out your planes and figure out how to make them fly realistically. That kinda stuff. You're off to a good start, just gotta keep going.
Fighters are good planes to start out on. Straightfoward kinda planes, you know? Especially because you can spend time getting the handling and performance right and its really fun to fly. Not so easy on the bigger, slower, more complicated stuff. Anyway, good luck.
@AviownCorp Me neither, I usually spend a few days hunting down photos of the plane from every angle plus any detail shots I can find. You would not believe how long it took me to figure out where the airbrakes are on a Mig-25!
I got a folder full of photos of each of the planes I've made.
Nice

Oh, how lovely.
PH'NGLUI MGLW'NAFH CTHULHU R'LYEH WGAH'NAGL FHTAGN!!!
+2I had no idea Atlas rockets still existed outside of museums! Those things were dangerous and not particularly sturdy.
@Milo1628xa Did you plan this for Cinco de Mayo? Or just a happy coincidence?
@Trainzo Glad you like her

@ZeDaru57 What! Why?
@KevinAirlines Hey! I havent seen you on here in a while. Working on anything new?
YOU ARE A MADMAN!
@Andrewtheplane Yeah, so?
Check out "highest rated this month"
Im sure youll find something you like.
Live long and prosper
@ScreamingApe Okay. X-Wing
Didn't you already post this? (Am I losing my mind?)
I rode one of these down a hill once. OMG, there was so much blood.
This is mindblowing.
@BobTheTitanSP Awesome job

+1@BaconRoll Thanks dude!
@Murphymotors XD
+1@FastDan You got overload and finetuner? They make it pretty easy.
+110/10 Would spawn in the air again.
+1Nice!
+1You MONSTER! What did you do to him?!?!?!
5/10 Looks good but just not realistic without that R.R.O.D
+2Dude. You used less than 200 parts and this thing looks amazing.

+1OMG MY EYES
10K YES, FINE TAKE IT. YOU'RE AWESOME, JUST PLEASE, SHUT OFF THE COLORS!
Man, whatever you wanna build, build it. No worries. Your stuff is awesome.
@FastDan Almost every part is set to 0.01x mass, so very few pieces weigh very much. I have a few moving parts that are normal weight (to avoid bugs) and a couple very heavy blocks to keep the plane balanced properly.
@EliteArsenals24 Thanks! I tried to add as much detail as I could while still keeping the part count low enough for mobile folks.
@MrSilverWolf Hey, thanks man! You got some pretty great builds yourself.

X-wing, but you gotta do a really good job. I'd say A-wing, but we had an awesome A-wing build not too long ago, I think.
@Strikefighter04 Aw, lets be fair. He didnt say the magic words. He's not out of ideas, after all.
+1You earned it, you make good planes and you made quite a lot.
@JamesPlanesii Thanks
I've seen some posts about this thing. Seem's she's been all over multiplayer lately!
@Planefun Thanks!
@Authros Thanks for helping me with this thing. Your advice really improved the way she handles landings.
@CoolPeach @RAF1 Thanks for the spotlight, fellas. I really appreciate the support

@CRJ900Pilot Sometimes reliability beats cutting edge tech, you know?
