I want to give major thanks to the user @SnoWFLakE0s for helping me out and providing a funky tree logic statement for the inlet cone, and to @FranzPeterSiegfried for the inspiration and design of the Osean roundel used on the build!
@SnoWFLakE0s I already explained what I wanted, but I guess I'll formalize it a bit here;
.
I'm using a piston with the speed at 50% and the range of motion 0.40. I XML modded the min and max range of the piston to be <0, 0.86> respectively.
.
For speeds above 500mi/hr I want the piston to extend to the full range, so I guess it'd look like this;
.TAS > 500mph, piston extend to "full" (1.0)
.TAS <or= 500mph, piston retracts (0.0)
.
No other variables other than that, so I'm not counting altitude, AoA, etc.
@ChisP Yes, unfortunately the wording of the entry in the beta linernotes might be throwing people off. As I am now understanding it;
.
Multirole missiles in the context of the 1.9 update means I can have, for example, an A2A interceptor and an A2G interceptor loaded onto the same plane and they will appear in the respective weapon modes without errors or weird grossness. Same would go for the Guardian, Cleaver, and the Inferno.
.
I don't know 100% if that helps you since I kinda just explained the same thing as the post, but try that out and see what happens. Take two of the same missile and set one to "function: AirToAir" and the other to "function: AirToSurface." They should work as expected without interfering with each other (for example in earlier builds this would have neutered one missile or the other into picking a single function, or maybe not functioning at all).
You've actually inspired me to try my own hand at making the 985. It's pretty much finished aside from possible further fine-tuning, so I'll be posting that at some point here.
@Diloph The nose gear was an experiment of sorts. I've always simplified the landing gear to exclude the hydraulics and things that actually provide suspension, but I figured I would give it a shot for once. I'm reasonably happy with how it went, but getting the thing to work the way I wanted and have decent pushback was...annoying.
@Leehopard Aww shoot, seriously!?
.
What does that do other than give each weapon a name? :o
.
I assume it wouldn't fix the issue where I can't have multiple missiles of the same type with different attributes (an A2A and A2G intercepter, for example)
@UFNNICF5TF Oh man...I have many down the pipeline...and several I started and didn't finish...
.
We'll see. I definitely need more prop plane builds under my belt.
@ChisP I'm gonna assume that number is based on a certain speed and cruising altitude, but fair enough. Honestly that's way too sluggish compared to the rest of my builds, so for sake of balance against my other jets I'm okay with that. Thank you!
@MailboxIsMyGender I went back and forth on if I wanted to do markings, and I settled on having a bit of fun and doing the protagonist squadron from AC4. I almost did an in-game loadout too, but figured a real configuration was more exciting visually.
.
Technically the Hornets in Ace Combat 4 are the -18C, but visually they're almost identical to the -18A. So it still works.
Post-upload note: If you want a bit more accurate aesthetic, angle all four underwing pylons down by 2 degrees (MAKE SURE to select "connected parts" in the native nudge tool so it grabs the tanks and bombs). I'm just tired of working on this thing and I already took the screenshots I wanted. Gomenasai for the laziness...
Similar techniques to mine, although you have slightly more fine detail and fuselage blocks for the canopy glass (I just use a rough outline of the canopy.). Mine definitely has more functions. Not bad! :)
@Mustang51 Yeah, I was willing to let that slide a bit given the other goals I wanted to hit with this build. It's also probably the most effort I've put into a cockpit so far out of all my jets.
.
Biggest annoyance was that I couldn't find a consistent cockpit panel layout for the F11F. The only consistency seemed to be a large compass instrument in the bottom-center, the gunsight, and the stick/throttle. So I chose A layout and stuck to it.
@MailboxIsMyGender I have an older F/A-18C build from before designersuite mod came out. I plan to do the twin seat Bravo, but I could squeeze in the Alpha.
.
Super Etendard would be SUPER fun to try
@Alta2809 I almost did the panels on the side, but realised they were too low in the cockpit and would've been hidden by the fuselage block. I also only did the instruments that would've been visible.
@Tang0five Thank you. I just...don't wanna bore people with R e a d i n g
.
The Crusader lasted a long time from the bunch that appeared post Korea. Although I guess you could call it the exception.
.
Also I might be planning to build those "post Korea" jets ._.
So I'm building a jet that uses Spoilerons for roll control. I want to test using the built-in ailerons as a substitute (since custom control surfaces can be iffy in terms of response in-flight from my experience). I want the Ailerons to ONLY move in one direction. How can I do that?
I tested abs(Roll) in the input ID and it locked the aileron in place.
@AerialFighterSnakes Pretty much all the "tail-dragger" style aircraft used by the Navy towards the end of WWII, Korea, etc. required something similar when launching with catapults. I think there are photos which show the A-1 using these launch bars, but they may have mounted to the landing gear instead of the fuselage...I don't research nearly as well as I could on the subject.
@UFNNICF5TF I plan to have an Su-30MKI, Su-33, and Su-35, and the prototype T-10-1.
.
The -33 is already finished, but I'm waiting to start the -30MKI. Also I'll probably just have an annnouncement-style post to link towards all of them.
@typeZERO Actually you pretty well kicked my tail. Those missiles kept damaging control surfaces and robbing me of any agility. I HAVE to nail a head-on pass to get the kill, which is still risky.
.
I used my MiG-15 build for this
.
Jeanne is kyut :P
@Shippy456 The F4H-1 was just barely starting to slow my laptop. It's some Dell laptop with i3. I forget the model name and specs.
.
And thanks xD dabs on self
@HawkerAviation Yo chill out lol
+1I want to give major thanks to the user @SnoWFLakE0s for helping me out and providing a funky tree logic statement for the inlet cone, and to @FranzPeterSiegfried for the inspiration and design of the Osean roundel used on the build!
@SnoWFLakE0s Thank you kindly! :) This'll definitely spice up my upcoming build for sure. Thanks a lot!

Honestly this looks better than my Bf-109B. I look forward to this series :)
@Falkenwut :)
@MrPorg137 Thank you :)

+1Annie are you okay? X3
@Shadowed Heheheheh

@AerialFighterSnakes Why of course. Perhaps that will also be an impromptu Ace Combat build :)
@UFNNICF5TF Oh man...I have many down the pipeline...and several I started and didn't finish...

@WANTSUMFUK122 Nice :)
@JolyLoly How so? I thought it handled great, though you do have to be careful when turning with no bombs or drop tanks
@HawkerAviation One of these days it'll happen. :)

You're gud
:)

Are those custom missiles my designs? I honestly don't remember. x)

@nameisalreadytaken Hmm...
+1.
Go ahead. I'd rather respec the missile inside but university is keeping me busy.
@Brields95 That's what I do currently. It doesn't respond like the stock control surfaces (It's SO SLOW...)
I could use some help with figuring this out;
So I'm building a jet that uses Spoilerons for roll control. I want to test using the built-in ailerons as a substitute (since custom control surfaces can be iffy in terms of response in-flight from my experience). I want the Ailerons to ONLY move in one direction. How can I do that?

@TheBlyatful1941 I have a far better F-4 Phantom posted already. Go check that out instead. :)
+1@TheBlyatful1941 I'll probably redo this plane instead. This build is OLD as heck, and deserves far better.
+1@SUPER64 Eventually I'll attempt a more detailed cockpit in one of my jets. Maybe I'll build some kind of test aircraft just for that.
+1@Empergyd No prob. :) Nice to see someone else doing early MiG-21 builds.

Jeanne :)

Gonna have to test this against one of my actual MiG replicas and see how it fares.
@HawkerAviation An F-15 is planned, friend. :) eventually
+1@Trainzo Thank you :)

Never stop making memey, dumb builds my dude xD
