For one, whether or not American stealth technology was incorporated into the design of the J-20, that does not disqualify the J-20 as a successful stealth design. China has invested billion of dollars into research and development in designing such stealth aircraft and to believe that the design is a an un-stealthy phony of an aircraft is just ridiculous. As for your statement about the “rented Russian engines”, China has been using indigenously produced and original WS-10 engines for years now. They only used Russian engines in early, early serial production models. Though WS-10 itself still isn’t “stealth” and doesn’t allow the J-20 to supercruise, the WS-15 engine with an estimated 180+ kN of thrust and 2D thrust vectoring is being developed as we speak and will be equipped on the J-20 possibly within the next year. Also, when the Indians claimed to have detected J-20’s they never provided any evidence. In defense of the J-20’s they were training and using Luneberg lenses, a device designed to enhance radar cross sections of aircrafts for training.
As for your other statements regarding “Russian copies”, this simply isn’t true. China has several indigenously designed aircraft including JH-7, J-10, and J-20 (whether you believe it or not). Their first carrier, the Type 001 is in fact a modified Ukrainian design, but with many, many modifications and upgrades to the electronics, sensors, interior, etc. It’s practically an all new ship. Meanwhile, the Russian carrier is basically dead as they aren’t able to afford fixing it. China is actually building its third, fourth, and fifth super carrier at this very moment. You claimed that the Chinese military is a joke and that they shouldn’t be the considered the third most powerful nation militarily. I personally believe this is false and a result of the common stereotype that the Chinese military is weak. The Chinese economy and military-industrial complex is massive, much larger than that of Russia. Defense analysts suggest that the Chinese defense budget is around 350 Billion USD. Though this is only around half of the American defense budget, the Russian defense budget is only 65-70 Billion USD.
Also, if you had done any research, you would know that the ZTZ-99 is NOT based off of any Russian design.
I don’t like the CCP or the Chinese government at all, but the common misconception that China is weak as a military power is straight up false and absurd.
