I honestly believe excess school is the number one cause of depression and suicide among young people. Yes it teaches us a few useful life skills, but over 75% of it is not fun, it takes time away from actual important things like having fun. If you never have fun in your life theres no reason to keep living. Ive been on the verge of killing myself multiple times because i wake up and realize i will spend today, tomorrow, next week, next month, with so much stress and pressure that it outweighs the fun i have by a landslide. And the worst part is that it doesn’t get better. Some adults joke about how work is so much worse than school and “we havent seen anything about life yet”, but if thats true then honestly why not just end it now and save years and years of suffering and depression. Id rather feel nothing than what ive felt for the past few years and will probally for the next few decades. And yet the school syetem thinks we need to learn advanced math ive yet to use once in my life instead of things like, oh i dont know how to pay taxes? How to manage your money? HOW TO GET A JOB? And it repeats every day, 5 days in a row. Then another 5 days in a row, and another. If life doesnt get better after school i will almost certainly kill myself. Dont need to know if x+4(9-x) = 3x+36 is a false equation or not if im dead. The only thing school teaches us is how to not be happy educated and optimistic people with a good future
