I would prefer (and I know a few people who’d agree with me) a build that looks great and flies great too to a build that looks even better but sucks to fly. However, I do fancy some ultra-high detail builds, if they’re done within a somewhat reasonable part limit.
As for the amount of detail that’ll impress me, I’m not really sure. Lots of functional stuff is quite impressive (e.g. working cockpit instruments, realistic landing gear (suspension, doors ect), a nice paint job, smooth/accurate modelling of the plane and so on. But there’s a point where, as Aaron said below, you can kinda go overboard, but that point is different according to everyone’s preferences
I ditto that, certain builds can be made less laggy by removing drag calculation on fuselages and other parts (very useful for ships and large stuff)
@DuckMint
I have tried Traindudes Railway mod too, it’s pretty decent but the track isn’t very smooth so the trains top speed is only like 30mph. I personally haven’t used the high speed rail cause it doesn’t work for this train :/, but you certainly could if you feel like there are people out there who would benefit from it.
@destroyerP
Honestly this isn’t even that complicated and shouldn’t even have sparked this much confusion. SP calculates lift for all wings regardless of their purpose. You have a very very light craft and have just happened to place your engines and horizontal stabilisers so that it can somewhat fly. No, there is no such thing as body lift on SP, just take the wings from the back off and the plane no longer flies.
The flight characteristics on this plane are much better now, really like the simulation of the pistons on the engine too, although some of them don’t seem to work. Nice work though!
What you have to understand is that of course the Devs are more focused on SR2, that’s how they make a living. Yet, they do seek to give SP another update after the Christmas break. And if you are looking for a more polished version of SP, SR2 does so quite nicely actually. Sure there’s a lot that’s wrong with SP, but sometimes just taking a short break between builds or spending more time on them will reduce levels of frustration.
That’s a really nice plane you’ve built, very smooth wing design. Will definitely make for some tough competition though, however that’s not a bad thing. Great work!
It’s a pretty nice plane from the outside, however it flies really poorly. Severe auto-roll (not sure if intended), yaw is inverted, roll rate seems to be a bit slow and Pitch is way overpowered. It’s great having a nice looking plane, but you should focus on the flying part too, cause that’s just as if not more important.
Huh, I guess you could try F104’s solution below, kinda crude but it’ll fix the problem. You could always try to shift k the wing pieces to fix up any dodgy connection points
@QingyuZhou
Has the cockpit been scaled down? I noticed that on my recent build, it caused drag issues which lead to auto Yaw/roll, maybe try scaling it back to 1,1,1 to see if it fixes the problem?
Ah thank you! I see what you mean about drag, I’ll keep that in mind for the future. I’ll ask you about drag points and stuff for future projects if I need to as well.
@BogdanX
The ship uses an XML edited propeller as the main means of propulsion. There’s a single jet engine set on brake to reverse the ship. The engines have been edited so that they don’t deactivate when the AG is off, that allows you to keep sailing while controlling the heli
@CRJ900Pilot
I agree, however, my only problem with mouse aimed controls is that it doesn’t work how you’d expect it to work, instead it works like a large game pad on the screen, so it’s not always gonna go we’re you point it to, which can mess you up. Plus, in the rare case an iOS/android users wants to use this, they are able to. Mouse aimed controls would basically prevent this group from using the ship. @CRJ900Pilot
Thanks man, hope you enjoyed it!

+3Does the plane happen to auto roll to the left when in flight?
I might consider it for the future, but I’ve got other things going on

+2That isn’t TakeYourLife’s F-16, it’s Sauce’s F-16
+1@ainanen
I don’t know if anyone else is having this issue, but on Mac it seems to crash the game when active. Nonetheless, great work.
+4Do know about shift-k?
But yes I agree, it’s a pretty annoying problem
It makes for a very nice disco ball too

@destroyerP
Probably not, I have other stuff I want to work on
@asteroidbook345
Thanks man, always been a train fan, and I really enjoyed your map too. @destroyerP
+1Yes he did, he had his reasons, not that they were reasonable but whatever

That’s not true for SP
+1@Jetliner101
Be like me? Hmm, maybe you mean to just build like me?
@temporaryaccount
You don’t
+4Indeed, hopefully a few more quality designs come through to make for a great competition!

Amazing stuff, I really enjoy when you make these types of vids!
Cheers man!
@EternalDarkness
I’ll see if I have the time
@horatio
Nice plane, very low part count too!
+1Yeah, but that category doesn’t exist for the challenge, so interwar is the next best ;)
@ThePilotDude
I actually just built one cylinder and rotated it around by 40° and mirrored it across. @Mainblocks
+3I might consider making a mobile friendly version if i have the time

Cheers!

This challenge is gonna be awesome, I hope to get my entry in soon!
Dunno, maybe 1 week, maybe a year. Depends how I feel

@CRJ900Pilot
It’s the paint that’s giving it that super glossy affect, not the part hence why you don’t get it when you put it in.
+6Rip
@bjac0
Take out all the wing pieces and replace them back in, that should remove any funny connections. Check drag, check wing area, check COM to COL
+3Great stuff, your Spitfire is truely a marvel
Amazing, absolutely amazing!
+1Oh, I believe it's around 55-60%
