  • Help! Predecessor and Successor Post Problems 8.5 years ago

@GenrichTitov, worked as you said it would, thanks! @Verterium, in case you were wondering if it would work.

  • Lockheed F-37A Super Viper+ 8.5 years ago

@159753 check this out, used your thrust vectoring engine, they work great, better than you said they would!

  • 6 Generation Fighter Challenge [Finish - Secret Phase] 8.5 years ago

Have a problem: I uploaded my build as a private post to make sure it posted as a successor to your post, but then subsequently modded it over the course of hours and days. When I tested the upload, the system views it as a successor to my post, not yours, I don't think I fix it, there are way too many rotators and parts, don't think it will do it right, any suggestions? Here it is: Lockheed F-37A Super Viper+

  • Mitsubishi G4M2 8.6 years ago

Very nice build, don't many (or any) Bettys on this site! This is the type plane on which Adm Yamamoto died...

  • Cessna 195 8.6 years ago

Very pretty, really like the scalloped paint job!

  • B-52 engine. 8.6 years ago

@BananaBoat33 try this Boeing B-47E Stratojet. The whole build is way over 50 parts but the inboard engine pods have fewer parts and are very similar to the B-52. Don't care if you credit me.

  • Updates to the Rules 8.6 years ago

@demoman9, nah, this is a private site, free speech (or your misunderstanding of such) doesn't apply here. Free speech, at least in America, is protected by the Constitution and states: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for redress of grievances." SP is a private online site, not Congress, censorship applies, plenty of posts have been "moderated" or removed, read the rules. Besides, A.G. gave you a way out with forum memorial posts...I would also suggest you could be more creative with your memorial builds. If you're commemorating 7 December 1941, you could instead build a realistic P-40 or USS Arizona instead of a garish, blatantly obvious "memorial" post. I, as a service member myself, would appreciate it that much better.

  • M.Corp T/A-3 Scorpion (Basic trainer / active reserve) 8.6 years ago

Nice little jet, looks like a sweet trainer!

  • B-52 engine. 8.6 years ago

While I appreciate your honesty, most people like to be tagged and credited, that's probably why you didn't get a lot of responses. Why only 50 parts? Most B-52-like creations are well more than 50 parts...

  • Overload broke SimplePlanes. 8.6 years ago

Restarting the game works for me; the Overload mod and Fine Tuner mods are absolutely essential to making really realistic replicas, so the effort in getting them to work correctly is well worth it...

  • Thickness of the wing and the wing Profile. 8.6 years ago

No, not with the stock wings. They all look like flat boards, with a distinct flat leading edge, trailing edge and end. For building wings that look a little more realistic, build up the stock wings with fuselage pieces, which at .25 are slightly thicker than the stock wings which are .20 thick. Turn the fuselage pieces sideways and use the circle or curved profiles to round the wing leading or trailing edges. That's the most efficient way I know of to make wings appear more realistic, I'm curious to hear if anyone else has additional suggestions.

  • Douglas DC-3 8.6 years ago

    Nice job, excellent DC-3 build!

  • People who can build cool planes PLEASE READ 8.6 years ago

Yeaaahhhh...I don't think you're going to get many entrants (or upvotes) for this...

  • I Hate the AI! 8.6 years ago

@Delphinus ok, I think I get it, but disagree, the AI is not genius...😡

  • The Organ Squasher 8.6 years ago

    @Himynameiswalrus huh, clever!

  • I Hate the AI! 8.6 years ago

    @Delphinus...what does that mean?

  • XF-58 8.6 years ago

How did you bury the engines and intakes on iOS? There's no nudge...?

  • The Organ Squasher 8.6 years ago

Ok, this deserves an upvote...so cute and tiny! BTW, how did you measure the turn radius, estimated or measured?

  • Douglas SBD 8.6 years ago

Very nice...can I ask why you used trim and not VTOL down for the flaps? Don't you need the trim to fly...well...trimmed up?

  • Ugly Lightning (or "p38 lighting") 8.6 years ago

It's still too good to be representative of the slapped together P-38s I've seen on the site, you should have made it NOT look like a P-38, then your victory will be complete!

  • Saab B-5 8.6 years ago

    Nice!

  • North American F-86 Sabre 8.6 years ago

    Godspeed John Glenn

  • Hawker Hurricane 8.6 years ago

@DoctorWho1 ok, 147 parts vs. 143, so 4 total, got it. I see you swapped out the cannons for machine guns, just like most of the Hurris out there...what else did you mod? Just saying, the community would have appreciated it if you had mentioned the original creator's name or even tagged the original's creator in the comments. Keeping it all "above board" is highly appreciated; if that was your intent, I apologize for calling you out, just try to remember to give credit where credit is due...here are how the rules are written:

    Tweaking airplanes is okay
    • It is okay to download someone else's airplane, make some tweaks, and re-upload a new variation.
    • In fact, the original designer may even receive bonus points.
    • However, if your variation does not offer any improvements over the existing airplane, then it may be removed.
    • If you are circumventing the predecessor/successor system, then you will be banned. Never upload a successor as an original design; give credit to the designer of its predecessor.

  • Hawker Hurricane 8.6 years ago

Gents, adding three parts and reposting without mentioning the original creator is questionable, please be more careful and transparent in the future when modifying other users' creations. Also, realize that SP automatically tracks successor posts and the original creators are automatically notified. While the original creator seems not to be all that upset, but seems outwardly pleased someone would like his creation well enough to repost it, the rest of us are a little more concerned and would like to maintain the integrity of the community.

  • Hawker Hurricane 8.6 years ago

    Nice!

  • Mirage-2000D 8.6 years ago

Dunno, I think this looks exactly like a Mirage 2000D 🤓

  • Weird physics 8.6 years ago

Rudder induced roll does occur in SP, but I fly on high physics, so you might want to check that. Agree with other points, though. Additional gripe: lack of supersonic effects! Straight and swept wings fly the same way provided they're of the same area 🤔

    +1
  • 6 Generation Fighter Challenge [Finish - Secret Phase] 8.6 years ago

@mikoyanster great...I already used the standard M61 Gatling gun...I mean the "mini gun", so I didn't want to swap that out, but I was sure something was up with the missiles so I was planning on using those, thanks.

  • F-4 Phantom II (McDonnell Douglas) "PlayBoy" 8.6 years ago

I like the VX-4 paint. I have to admit, though, that's a weird glitch. I've suffered that type of glitch before, but never because I fired the guns with the gear down!

  • 6 Generation Fighter Challenge [Finish - Secret Phase] 8.6 years ago

Question: When I started my build, I assumed you meant we had to use standard guns and missiles (minigun, Guardian and Interceptor missiles)...but when I re-read this, I think you might mean that we must use the exact missiles you post above, vs. the stock missiles in the game...can you confirm?

  • Dassault Mirage F-1 MT 8.6 years ago

@t8erh8er most Mirage fighters (MIrage III, Mirage IV, Mirage 5, Mirage 2000, 4000) are delta winged, the F1 was not. The F1 was designed instead with a high-mounted swept wing and first entered service with the French AF in 1974. The III, IV and 5s are actually older designs dating back to the late 1950s and 60s. The delta wing, while strong, easy to build and with a great volume (for fuel, etc.), actually "bleeds" a lot of energy in a turning fight. They're fantastic for about one 360, really getting a great initial nose rate, but then the large induced drag results in airspeed loss and causes the jet to really slow its rate of turn. Hopefully for the Mirage III pilot, the fight is over by that point. If not, the next turn will result in a missile down the tailpipe. The F1's swept wing was designed to overcome a few of the delta's disadvantages. But, Dassault went back to the delta planform with the 2000 and the Rafale.

  • Sprühregen A-1 8.6 years ago

    Cool

  • Bullet Bill from Super Mario 8.6 years ago

Let's make it 50 upvotes, 'cause this is hilarious!

  • Red Tractor with cultivator 8.6 years ago

This looks extremely realistic, nice job!

  • MKY-31C 8.6 years ago

    Nice paint job...

  • Thrust Vectoring? 8.6 years ago

@Supercraft888, true, but will only work if intakes are also attached to the fuse parts on which the engine is mounted; the whole assembly would then have to pivot as well. Any one else know how the VTOL trick works? Too bad we can't just build exhaust petals that actually deflect the engine exhaust...

  • Fine Tuner 8.6 years ago

@HellFireKoder ok, thanks. Strange thing is that the left and right wings, for example, are numerically mirroring each other, just not the cockpit and centerline parts...I think I can work around it, but can get frustrating. I'll try your fix as well, so, thanks!

  • Canadair T-33 Mako Shark 8.6 years ago

Nice. I think the rivet heads are a little OTT, but your fanatic devotion to your craft is evident!

  • Binding Rotators to Flight Parameters 8.6 years ago

It would also make the AI a better pilot. I built an F-20 which could fly the Cobra maneuver, but required a deft touch and the proper airspeed range to prevent losing control. The AI dorked it up completely every time, couldn't even fly the jet at all, throwing in full nose up input at low airspeed and thus allowing the aircraft to depart controlled flight...😡

  • Why Are My X Coordinates Off?? 8.6 years ago

@Ephwurd yeah, I think you might have hit the nail on the head...I was using fine tuner when this cropped up. Like you, I'm frequently annoyed by the fact that "undo" doesn't only undo my fine tuner mistake, but also my previous three steps. I think I'm going to have to take some things apart with this build and put it back together...how in the world do some of these builders create works of art in only 2 or 3 days???

  • Boeing 787 Dreamliner (Read description) 8.6 years ago

Very nice, I am in awe of your powers!

  • Mortiferum TopCat-75 8.6 years ago

Rolling with yaw is known as "rudder roll" or, as a negative effect with swept wings, "Dutch roll". It happens because rudder input swings the nose to one side and advances the opposite wing. The advancing wing generates slightly more lift and the aircraft will roll.
