@AzureCorp It helps to know that they’re completely harmless to people, and that they’re very docile in the sense that they don’t seem to mind if you handle them. They’ve been underground for 17 years, they probably don’t even know what their own predators are. Simultaneously, no potential predators even realize they exist before they emerge, since nothing that would eat them lives for 17 years. The way I see it, is that there’s nothing to be afraid of in terms of insects and whatnot, as long as it’s completely harmless, and/or it’s docile enough to not really care if it’s handled, as long as you don’t hurt it. I’ve noticed the same with lots of large tarantula species, they don’t really mind if you handle them, just as long as you don’t make any physical interaction that may hurt them. In most cases, it’s more scared of you than you are of it.
Aight listen I know this is completely irrelevant to the SimplePlanes website but I wanted to share this with you guys anyway, cause it makes me happy and I haven’t been happy in a while. The cicadas this year only come once every 17 years, hence their nickname, “17-Year-Cicadas”. And hey, they can fly, right? This is a website of flying things, so it kinda works, question mark?
For context, I’ve always loved insects and bugs in general, including spiders of all kinds too, along with other typically feared arachnids.
Kinda feel like you may have ripped off SimpleSquare, seeing that they’ve been doing this exact thing for a while now, and haven’t gotten nearly as much attention as this one build of yours that is based on their build-style.
Yet when the prop of my plane barely touches the ground after I brake too hard, the entire aircraft goes lightspeed and the cockpit block glitches into the fourth dimension.

@Matochakarel to elaborate on what Nerfaddict said, use Overload to edit the dragScale value, and the dragCalculations value; set dragScale to 0, and dragCalculations to false. From there, the game takes no time to calculate any drag, and it’s now possible to create absolutely massive creations! Just make sure this is how it is for every massive part, otherwise it will still crash. You can however, put drag on one normal sized part, so that the entire creation doesn’t just accelerate infinitely; no drag, means no stopping. For context as to why crashes happen with high drag, the game has to calculate the drag for every single part, and when you make the part bigger, the drag also gets bigger. Therefore, the calculations are more difficult and require more processing power. Too much, and the processing power of your device won’t be able to handle it, making the game crash.
I remember hearing another story where a crew member in the rear gunner position offered a trailing F4 Pilot a bottle of vodka, to which in retaliation, the F4 Pilot showed the gunner a Playboy Magazine, getting a “hearty smile, and a thumbs up in response”
Man, the Cold War was something else. Fought not with guns, but with words, with an occasional friendly interaction between opposing sides. Goes to show we’re all just human in the end.
@Astro12 it’s not as funny when someone has to explain it; Limbo is a game of seeing how low you can walk without hitting your head on a small bar. The people and dog mentioned in the joke are attempting to play limbo, but all fail miserably. The punchline is that typically, when you hear the sentence, “etc. character walks into a bar” your first thought is that they walked into the building of drinking and recreational gambling, when in reality, it’s a simple play on words.
A man walks into a bar.
Then, a woman walks into a bar.
Shortly after, two kids walk into the bar also.
After that, an elderly couple walk into the bar too.
Eventually, even a dog walks into the bar as well!
Clearly, these guys don’t understand how Limbo works.

I’d like to imagine the minds of the pilots are just like

“No no wait I gotta roll this way first, and you gotta pitch down or else I’ll stall”
“I think stalling is the least of our worries at the momen- oH GOD PULL UP”

“OK Ok wait just direct your thrust downwards, and I’ll angle mine upwards, and we should separate from each other”
“Alright, on three! One, two, three-“
“Now wE’RE BARREL ROLLING, Opposite direction this time!”
“Did you ever pull full left rudder like I told you to earlier?”
“No, I was too busy not caring, full right roll now!”
“I’ve been doing that, you pull left!”
“Last time we did that, we started barrelrolling!”
“Ok then, uhh... here, I’ll pitch down and apply full left yaw, and you pitch up while applying full right yaw, surely we’ll separate.”
“I’d like to take a moment to appreciate that we’re still in the air with these things, even though we’ve been conjoined for the past three minutes.”
“And whose fault is that, huh?”
“Oh come on, I was reading the Sunday paper! It has the latest LifeOfBoris comic in it, and I was getting to the best part.”
“Oh, may I have a look at that?”
“I appreciate your confidence, but it’s not like we’re in the same plane.”
“Well our cockpits are pretty damn close to each other, just press it against the glass or something.”
“Alright hold on- aAUGHH PISS I JUST SPILLED MY COFFEE, CYKA”
“Ok wait, you have coffee in there?! How did you get that in the cockpit, and how did it not spill prior to now?”
“It’s from Wawa, it was in a sealed cup, the lid just came off as I was grabbing the paper and now it’s all over my suit.”
“You continue to amaze me for all the wrong reasons, just show me the Comi- oh dEAR LORD LOOK OUT!”
“aUAAGUH SHIT, pull up, and I’ll pitch down!”
“Alright, NOW!” proceeds to do that
“Whew, I don’t know how we got out of that alive, that was invigorating!”
“Yeah maybe for you, now I have more than just one reason to change my pants.” And then they both stalled out and died the end
@ALTMTR when viewed from afar, the frame rate wasn’t crippled by the explosion as much as I thought it would be; I got 5-10 FPS, which sounds bad but I consider that to be manageable, probably cause I have monumentally low standards lol. However, just because I was curious, I wanted to see what the FPS would be like if I zoomed the camera into the explosion. Needless to say, my FPS was so slow that I don’t think it could reasonably be measured in frames per second, rather, frames per hour, because I only got one frame to move in a period of like 10 minutes, and then the game froze. Strangely enough, the game never crashed, but I still had to force-quit out of it if I wanted any chance of playing the game again lol.
Sorta interesting video, a relatively unheard of aircraft flew over the baseball field at my school a couple days ago, the AugustaWestland AW-609 Tiltrotor! I know the video isn’t very clear, nor does it have good quality in general, but I found it to be pretty cool, so why not post it here? I guess content is content.
Make jet engine thrust down, or prop thrust up, and then completely disregard any and all planning with weight, CoM, lift, and other important things.

@EngineerOtaku ehh, idk. Check in with them and see if they’re ok with it, maybe they’ll even applaud you for making an offshoot of their design.

@Dathcha he wants to give you a kiss
MiG-21 Le Fishbed
@TankmanNewgrounds the cockpit is detached, meaning that the only part the game recognizes in the creation is the cockpit itself.
Looks fun tbh, only for a few minutes though lol, I couldn’t bare having to deal with that every time I load SimplePlanes
