In the 1980s, the Third Group of the Sukhoi Program Room repeatedly proposed the SCAMP model for su-27 to the chief designer, and began to design the overall program of the aircraft in 1983, code-named "T-10E". Because the Soviet Union had learned about the F-16XL, it hoped to greatly improve the technical characteristics of the T-10E aircraft, but the plan was never implemented. But in July 1983 a model was made for the aircraft layout scheme with the 107 engine, codenamed su-34.
