HISTORY

The T-41 Tank Destroyer was designed in 1938, but the prototype wasn't completed until 1940. The T-41 was built on the chassis of a BT fast tank, which gave it a top speed of over 40 kph. The T-41 was originally designed to have just one gun in an immovable turret, but it soon became clear that a second turret was needed for defending the rear. The T-41 A, B, and C models Also had the bad habit of sometimes losing its main gun, but this was fixed in the D model. This particular T-41 (turret number 210) was built in the Kharkov Locomotive Factory KhPZ in 1941, just before the start of Operation Barbarossa. It went on to be one of the first tanks to enter Berlin in 1945 and is now on public display in a tank museum.
