S.M.S “East Wind” Heavy Cruiser

15.1k MDDJB  2.6 years ago

A fictional heavy cruiser with two triple 381mm main guns, two twin 305mm main guns, two twin 127mm secondary guns arranged along the central axis, and two twin 127mm secondary guns on each side of the hull but not operational, with propellers that should be available.
[AG-1] activates the two main guns at the bow, [AG-2] activates the two main guns at the stern, [AG-3] activates the front secondary guns, and [AG-4] activates the rear secondary guns.
[VTOL] - controls barrel pitch, [Trim] - controls barrel horizontal rotation.
[Brake] - reverse, [Yaw] - hull rotation left and right, activate [AG-8] to turn off the gyroscope.
Pushing the power to 25% will ensure a more realistic propeller effect.
[Note] Propeller may not work in marine mode.

While the ship looks very nice, idea of having two different calibers of big guns is awful. Such system was used on large warships until HMS Dreadnought introduced uniform main battery. When you have two sets of similar guns with different ballistic properties, it creates confusion with fire control, as you're not sure which splashes are from which guns and can't appropriately adjust fire.

@ThomasRoderick 🤔No, it's just that the restrictions on the navy in that world are vague, similar to how the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force refers to their 20,000-ton helicopter carriers as "frigates".

@MDDJB So... I'm assuming the proper "battleships" in your world is something armed with main calibers well over 20 inches, weighs a couple hundred thousand metric tonnes in displacement, crewed by a full dozen thousand crew members, and have their own hydroponic farms for food production?

@maximillianvonschaben 😋Yes, this ship combines some elements of the British Navy and the Italian Navy.

@ThomasRoderick 🥳In the real world 381mm guns are indeed the category of battleships, but in my own empty world due to the difference between the international situation and geography gives birth to such "heavy cruisers".

A heavy cruiser with 15" main battery? Wouldn't that make it a battlecruiser?

@EternalDarkness 😫Yes, the dreadnought is epoch-making, in fact, the main gun configuration of this ship is planned to refer to the KGV, but because my daily energy is limited and I may not have time to play the game for some time in the future, so the main gun of this ship is actually a product of reuse, maybe one day in the future I will replace the new main gun and turret for this ship, thank you very much for your support.
