Hawker Tempest V 1:1 scale

TEASER FOR THE NEXT RELASE:

I think this is at present the best Hawker Tempest V on Simpleplanes with 1000 part max. Change my mind.

With the recent introduction of the transparent material I decided to upgrade my previous model. This required a complete reconstruction of the central sectors of the fuselage, as it was not designed to have a visible cockpit, so the fuselage was not hollow. I then had to build all the interiors from scratch based on the photos and keeping in mind the maximum limit of 1000 parts that I had imposed on myself. The cockpit is therefore very reminiscent of the original, but it is very simplified. No indicators work, for example. However, all the controls, pedals, sticks, throttle, flaps, trim and landing gear lever work.

Everything is 1: 1 scale, the flight is realistic, the weapons have the same amount of ammo as the originals and the bullet speed has been set to the real one. The flaps work and the behavior of the airplane is consistent with the chosen position. They are detailed both in the complex shape of the surface and in the internal structure with ribs. The completely custom landing gear has all the aerodynamic covers that perfectly match the originals and in the wing there is the compartment that houses the landing gear when it closes. Inside, an internal structure of reinforcements is visible.

Staying under 1000 parts without sacrificing some curved surfaces such as painting the roundels (and I barely managed it) required some sacrifices. I used some actually existing English roundels, without the thin white circle, but they are not very common on the upper wing and look somewhat odd. Despite this I can assure you that on some Tempests they were present in just that shape, size and position. I also had to sacrifice the roundels under the wings and on the fuselage, they will be present in a future version with no parts limit, which will allow me to detail the whole thing much more. I'll probably do the two tone camouflage in gray and green as well.

The model is great fun to fly, and can sink ships or destroy bridges with its powerful guns.

    Yeah that green looks radioactive.
Maybe try making it more grey or making it dark olive or something.

@Zippy6 SP also have a very restrict palette. I used ALL the colors, and some more was missing. :)

SP doesn't replicate colors exactly. Ive always found that I have to adjust the RGB values of the colors to get them to look right, even when going with historical paints.

@Zippy6 The very vibrant green color was the ordinance color for the internal structure of the british planes. :)

Very cool model. The only thing i could think of to improve it even more would be more accurate colors. They are far too vibrant. Especially that interior green under the flaps.
