Disclaimer: This is fictional
In 1963 American Aircraft industries began the development of a supersonic attack aircraft designed to be based in Europe and attack the Soviet Union and its allies. By 1965 the A-153 prototype was ready to be unveiled. Although it was designed to be based in Europe development was rushed because of the Vietnam war. Because it was rushed there were some problems with it. In 1966 it first flew. In 1967 it was rushed into service due to Vietnam. The aircraft was very effective if it had a good pilot. Although it had some problems it had very good radar. It was usually armed with Mk.80 series bombs or AGM-65s and AGM-41s. When it was armed with the AGM-41 Barracuda it was one of the best attack aircraft. It saw service in Vietnam and was stationed in Europe throughout the Cold War. It saw combat for the last time in the Yugoslav wars and was retired in 2001. As soon as it was retired the USAF considered bringing it back into service because of operation enduring freedom but it was decided that it was to old and wasn’t as effective as newer aircraft. It served with the USAF, East Germany, Italy, Belgium, South Vietnam (until 1975), North Vietnam (Captured aircraft after the war), Taiwan, South Korea, New Zealand, and Australia. When production ended in 1982 2,123 had been built.
