Focke-Wulf Triebflügel

triebflugel

CONTROLS

AG 1: Activates gyroscope for landing
VTOL Bar: don't touch
Landing Gear: activate/deactivate landing gear

To hover: throttle ~42%
To takeoff: throttle 100%, pitch down , and retract the landing gear
To land: head in the direction of the landing spot and lower throttle, then activate 1 when you are close to the landing spot. It lands like a helicopter. If you'll takeoff again, deactivate 1.

This thing has terrible handling XD but once you get use to it, it becomes easier to land. If anyone can make this with better handling, that'd be great

Wikipedia

The Focke-Wulf Triebflügel, or Triebflügeljäger, literally meaning "thrust-wing hunter", was a German concept for an aircraft designed in 1944, during the final phase of World War II as a defence against the ever-increasing Allied bombing raids on central Germany. It was a vertical take-off and landing tailsitter interceptor design for local defense of important factories or areas which had small or no airfields.
The Triebflügel had only reached wind-tunnel testing when the Allied forces reached the production facilities. No complete prototype was ever built.

It's a pity that it seems hard to fly probably only due to game engine limitations. But it's still awesome! Would like to spotlight, but don't know why i can't.

(Read in british accent for best effect): -puffs cigar- When I was a wee lad, the best Triebflugel we had was Skua's, bless his heart.-sniffs- You children are spoiled, getting all the best creations delivered straight to your doorstep. Highly detailed too.-scoffs- Back then, if you wanted an obscure aircraft, you had to settle for whatever you could find, dear boy! None of this "choice" nonsense. Well, I'm off to play a game of bridge now. Cheerio, lad.
