Flag of Mongolia

18.1k FlagsWorldwide  3.4 years ago

Sorry for the insanely large wait! I moved and had a lot of things I had to do and I had basically no free time to make anything. I finally found some though and since it is nearing Thanksgiving, I wanted to make a flag of a country whose existence I am thankful for. Mongolia. Their history is a crazy one. From almost nothing, Mongolia managed to create the largest contiguous land empire in history, stretching from Korea to modern day Ukraine. While they are no longer the giant they once were, Mongolia is still a pretty large country. Mongolia's flag is an interesting one, as it is one of the most recognizable flags in Asia (in my opinion). The left portion of the flag is a Soyombo on a red stripe. The Soyombo represents fire, sun, moon, earth, and water. You may also notice that the Soyombo has a Tajitu symbol which represents the duality in yin-yang. Finally, the red stripes symbolize the eternal thriving of Mongolia, while the blue represents the blue sky, which is also eternal. This flag was very interesting to make as it made me really think of how to make certain pieces such as the flame and the yin-yang. That is all for now, and I will try to build another flag sometime this week, so stay tuned!

@Northsoutheastthrop Oh hey I'm one of them. Which is weird considering I'm not ethnically Mongolian...

Fun fact, 16 million men today are descendants of genghis khan, this is found because a group of geneticists found that nearly 8 percent of the men living in the region of the former Mongol empire carry y-chromosomes that are nearly identical, talk about child support.
