Piston Power - First radial 9 and 18 supercharged piston engines!!

10.2k MethaManAerospace  6.5 years ago

I could not retain myself from posing these as I finally completed the first supercharged radial 18 piston engine in simpleplanes!

The engine on the left is my first radial 9 that I made since Visify's was jus a tad to big and I wanted to have a good basis for 18 cylinders.

The one on the right is my second 9 cylinder radial which features a 'supeerchager'. this is the basis of the next engine and still requires refinement.

The last and biggest engine is the first piston 'supercharged' 18 cylinder 2 stage radial engine of SimplePlanes. It is still in development as the power output is mediocre for its size and some bits haven't been able to be correctly placed.

to use:
- VTOL up (not all the way, adjust with speed of airplane)
- Throttle up
If you go backwards, restart and try again. :P

The propellers are a Visify creation and I think you should check him out as he inspired me to make these engines and use a new build style. He also made many different engines and propellers that are on offer.

-!- These engines aren't powerful enough yet but work as a proof of concept. They will be improved...

Also, do you remember that wok in progress I posted some time ago? Well guess what these are for... ;)

If you have any requests, put them in the comments.
Thank you for your curiosity!

I built an actual plane from the radial 18! I modified the prop blades to get more thrust, but the engine is yours. It's a twin engine plane that can take off entirely on its own.

Does that have anything to do with me?
    I was gone for like...forever.
Now I am back, my client deleted (because of teacher and TECHNOLOGICAL CONTROL and blah blah..) :(
Just remembered this site to log back on...
Interesting build. Wait for TWO MONTH so I can test it....
