The Polikarpov I-153 Chaika was a Soviet biplane fighter from the late 1930s, the last of Polikarpov's biplane designs. Distinguished by its gull wing and retractable undercarriage, it was powered by a Shvetsov M-62 radial engine and typically armed with four 7.62 mm ShKAS machine guns, also capable of carrying rockets and bombs. It saw combat in the Soviet-Japanese conflicts and the early years of World War II. Approximately 3,437 were built.
