LD-150 "Little Devil"

1,716 Davjlee  4.9 years ago

The JLX LD-150 is a super sonic "mini" air to ground attack aircraft. This is part 1 in a multi stage development project that will include other prototype "mini fighters" and experimental launch vehicles including trucks and large airborne carriers in a 747 style. The first stage, however, is to develop a small fighter capable of being delivered to various battlefields very quickly. The LD-150 is not aircraft carrier capable having an extremely fast takeoff speed of 450-460 mph. Landing is incredibly difficult given the small size of the aircraft; however, when slow enough with a level flight path, landing is completely possible. AG7 and VTOL controls introduce air brakes from either side of the nose to assist in slowing the aircraft. Two wing guns, one nose mounted mini gun, four Inferno missiles, and two countermeasure chaff dispensers round out the jets weapons systems. Flying at 50% thrust is recommended unless a quick getaway is required. The JLX LD-150.

@Davjlee also, I got a discord link in my bio, you can join that for easer communications if you want. though I don't look at discord as much as I do the SP site.

@Davjlee so that's the issue, I haven't made much progress... ant climatic!
yeah I made a B-36 not to long ago, I was going to make the B-36 AAC version but couldn't get it to keep from moving. other than that I haven't done anything. I'm not sure what to do... maybe link me your work in progress or something, I have the experience to build a decently complex system for loading and I have some ideas on how but sense the plane wont fly straight my efforts have been (prepare yourself) GROUNDED. pun intended

@ACEPILOT109 I think that would be great :). How far have you come along? I've been working on the fuselage of the carrier; trying to work out the storage options and how such will translate into a successful delivery. I hear you in regards to the flight characteristics of the carrier. It's tricky to not only get a good balance on the carrier, but keep it that way as planes depart. I had been considering using a sort of counterweight system that could be adjusted as each plane is released. Of course, there's a lot more to think about as well :). I would definitely like to work some more prototype "little planes" and then build a single plane, airborne system followed by two and so on. Would love to see what you've come up with.

@Davjlee well your not alone! I was doing a lot of development into a airborne aircraft carrier (AAC) when the magnet update came out and had many issues with flight characteristics and getting the mother ship to fly straight. maybe we could do a collaboration and see what is possible?

@ACEPILOT109 Lol absolutely! The many attempts towards such a goal anyway :). I know that it was always the "little plane" that made such a thing difficult to bring into reality. I am certainly interested enough to see if it's possible in Simple Planes.
