DHC XFA-301 Arthur

Document I: Description

Document I.A: Synopsis

The XFA-301 is a heavy, single-seater prototype multirole fighter developed by DHC for the German Luftwaffe and is its eleventh aircraft. It is a new design that took inspiration from its F/A-243 predecessor and incorporated the new engine from the previous F/A-282. The design is mostly for demonstrating new weapons developed by the Corporation, and was known for its inherent slight yaw instabilty in its testing.

Document I.B: Design

Engines

The new Wilhelm X.SDR engine used in the F/A-282 proved its power by pushing the aircraft faster than most single engine fighters of the time, and was picked to be used on the Arthur over the older Wilhelm VII.ADG engine.

Airframe

The XFA-301 incorporated an overall design similar to the earlier Richtofen II, with the engine nacelles and nose unit made longer to increase the airframe's sturdiness in the middle. The wings also have less forward sweep to provide better flight stability, and the stabilitators are placed in the back to ensure stability. The AESA systems inside the radome are now standard to have an openable radome for easier maintenance access. A refueling probe has also been added to the cockpit's starboard to increase flight range.

Document I.C: Armament

The DHC has finished a new weapons suite designated H1 in time when the XFA-301 was being proposed as a weapons demonstrator. The new package did not feature bombs and rockets, but the new MR-20Z gatling has improved overall characteristics compared to the previous MM-20D gun of the E6 package. The missiles included in the H1 set are multipurpose, but the Breacher missile is more intended for long-range striking while the Albatross is more designed for short-range dogfighting. The backlash of the missiles' multirole capabilities is that they have less space for fuel, and thus have shorter flight time before running out of fuel. They also have restricted lock angle due to the shortage of storage inside the missiles. The missiles however make up for this with faster lock time and sharper gimble angles.

Document I.D: Production

The Arthur was mostly intended for weapons demonstration, though the corporation plans to set the aircraft into production stage by mid-2024. The nickname it earned from its test pilots was "Kavalier" [lit. Cavalier]. It produced numbers of only 3 aircraft by late 2023, however the DHC plans to build 600 units by late 2024.

Hello, fellow dogfighters! Sorry for the hiatus of posts, it's just school being the usual. Also, this is my first plane in the 1.10 update, and the cockpit is now actual glass! And yeah, missiles are now basically QAAMs. Oh, make sure to leave an upvote, comment, and spotlight if you enjoyed the build. With that, cum histooooria-
