Warning: large part count.

Read this or you’ll never understand, and i actually mean it.

The other helicopter I made, the UH-60L was a simple to fly helicopter with intense detail.

This is just a second version I was working on at the same time, yet this version took a freaking year just to get right.

Why is that? It has some realistic flight physics, including flying level like a plane, the ability to climb like a plane with the nose up, using the collective and speed momentum, and flying at top speeds which is like I think around 222 mph for some H-60s give or take depending on your load.

Do not exceed this limit for playability wise, but I can’t stop you so do whatever lol!

Not much needs to be said other than this is similar to a simple helicopter build, collective makes it go up and down for the most part.

Pitching the aircraft not only dips the nose, but adds extra speed and moves the main rotor. And when the horizontal stabilizer goes up, you can switch activations, or just simply turn off Activate8.

This is what will keep the aircraft level, raise your collective somewhere up to this level, again you might have to adjust it once in a while, especially when you pitch or bank.

At high speed, you don’t have to constantly yaw to turn, you can simply bank the aircraft. When you do yaw, don’t yank it or you go into a death spiral, just gently turn, hope you figure it out. Also don’t do it when you are flying at high speeds, yaw at speeds around 50 mph or less.

Some times when at low speeds, the aircraft will change directions very slowly, you don’t always need the tail rotor to do this, you can simply move roll very gently to correct your heading.

For landing, I suggest you approach from a considerable distance. When you approach, keep the nose level or the bar of the attitude meter in the center, if it goes down, keep it in the middle to reduce speed.

After a short time, you will notice the front of the heli will rise, I think you know the rest.

This the altimeter when you’re almost to your landing zone, it will bleed off some speed and you can slowly descend to a safe landing.

I highly recommend putting the parking brake on when you takeoff, trust me, it stops it in its tracks.

Hovering is a bit difficult, and as it should be. To hover, keep the tail slightly down and the nose slightly up, the rotor is tilted so it wants to go forward.

If you add stuff on it, it might cause the playability to act weird, so fiddle with the collective to make the attitude bar stay in the center or at list a little down.

Keep in mind this is the simulation version of this, so if you think it’s too complicated, just don’t download it, no need to comment about it, I try to keep it as simple as possible though lol.

The cockpit doors can come off, just find the hinge rotators.

You can open each door on this helicopter for your own preference on how you like to fly the guns can be taken off, just be warned that they are sometimes connected to something but I’m sure you’ll find out.

The gunner door opens from the inside primarily but can be opened by a switch, trying to keep it true to life.

I’m surprised this didn’t fry my iOS. There will be a YouTube tutorial and trailer for this at some point, not sure when, in the future, just type of simpleplanes H-60 family and it’ll most likely show up.

There are multiple different variants and color schemes to choose from, more will be coming, be warned, one has more parts than the others, what will you fly?

Also heads up to any commenters, I’m not trying to sound wimpy, but please I’d like to hear some pros and less cons of my build considering the pain and agony this has caused to make both the helicopter and the flight model.

But thanks for the downloads and upvotes!

@Airheaddivision im not in vr im in android

  • Profile image

@taktikalgirl109 no clue why that is, it doesn’t for me, this is the first I’m hearing of this, btw this is an old one I’m making a Bette easier version, then I’ll move on to a few other helicopters. Are you in VR perhaps? it does it in VR sometimes.

    @Airheaddivision ok

@B17fan oh, well actually the main rotor is canted like in real life, it adds more forward momentum to the helicopter especially when the nose in not tilted. so in order to hover you need to keep the tail down a little bit.

  • Profile image

@B17fan uh… yes, you just have to slow down before you reach your landing zone, it doesn’t necessarily stop on a dime. I’m making a tutorial for a newer version of this if you want to learn more. The new version will also have a winch (tow cable).

Also, does any of them have a winch?

Can you hover with it like over the water or something? Like if I want to land on an aircraft carrier I can hover then go down?

@AhmedDabagh the activation to lift off is seven, I don’t know if your new to VR or not, I haven’t played VR in one year, so I’m just as rusty, to take off, you’ll need to ask someone else.

@TheTomatoLover do the guns not work, I put handles on them, or do you mean the helicopter in general?

I haven’t tried it in VR, so I’ll take a look at it okay?

The true power of this flight model is quite… restrained.
Needs a bit more tuning, if you had more freedom of control, this’d be awesome.
