MSC Vengeance (SBM-1)

Mod EternalDarkness  1.2 years ago

M.Corp Vengeance is a nuclear powered, ballistic missile armed submarine in service with the M.Corp navy, sailing strategic routes far from home, providing M.Corp with second strike ability. It is the first of eight vessels of the class.

Imgur

Design:

Vengeance submarine is a large nuclear submarine designed to allow second strike capability to the Corporation in case of a nuclear war. It is 150m long, and armed with eighteen ballistic missiles with multiple independently targetable reentry vehicles.
Secondary armament of the submarine consists of four 533mm torpedo tubes and four 300mm decoy launchers.
Power to the submarine is provided via a nuclear reactor in the stern section of the vessel. It drives a ducted turbine at the stern.
Electronic systems of Vengeance class subs consists of an active/passive sonar array, inertial and GPS navigation systems, and radar deployable at periscope depth.

Instructions:

  • VTOL to dive;
  • LandingGear for periscope;
  • Throttle and Roll to steer.

Notes:

  • Since submarines aren't very functional on SP, I haven't bothered with performance. This submarine has crazy acceleration, low diving depth, and no weapons. They all disappear at periscope depth anyway. This is more of a show piece.
  • This is my first submarine. I'd love to get some feedback, since I'm planning to make another one in the future. Help make that one better.

Enjoy.

    @Speedhunter I've just placed very floaty blocks on a piston, made them tiny by scaling them (don't scale mass, it reduces buoyancy), and placed a VTOL engine (equally tiny) on the floating block so it will always stay above the surface.

    @EternalDarkness I need help with the diving mechanism please...

    @8bitgamer33 it would realistically take at least half an hour to reach that speed.

    What "crazy acceleration"‽ It goes to 39 mph. Big whoop.

    I’ll add the turret from my hydrofoil onto the top @EternalDarkness

    Hmmm I wonder do any of the pistons on this are they strong enough for a turret to pop up from that hole in the top @EternalDarkness

    @GeneralOliverVonBismarck sure. Just try to add some more changes if you are planning to post it, so it fits the rules.

    May the Kreigsmarine purchase two of these for use in our army (i will repaint it in krigsmarine colors and arm it with torpedos @EternalDarkness

    @EternalDarkness how about putting tiny missiles/torpedos on pistons which are in the same speed as the one who pushes the sub down. Secondly make a tiny modded piston with a tiny swimblock on it for good diving

    That makes sense thanks I'll see if I can recreate that for my sub I'm working on I have a raise able snorkel on it so it shouldn't be an issue and since it is bount it should float to the surface if the VTOL takes in water

    @doge it dives by using tiny floating blocks attached to a piston with edited range. VTOL engine is also on the piston, staying above water.
