Nordan NA-1 "White Bliss"

25.1k JohnnyBoythePilot  6.6 years ago

Let me introduce another aircraft manufacture, Nordan Aircraft!

NA-1 "White Bliss", first flown in 1934.

Nordan Aircraft was founded by James Nordan in 1932. His first design, was the NA-1. The very first NA-1, "White Bliss", was designed specifically for the old-school pylon races of the time. The NA-1 was made of wood construction (More than likely Spruce) to keep the plane's overall weight light. The engine was an experimental 1,000HP inline V8 engine (which was quite fuel efficient) developed by James himself, specifically for the NA-1 model, and featured an experimental, 4-bladed scimatar prop. The prop was originally supposed to be made of wood, but concern over the prop warping at high speeds led James to make it out of metal instead. The NA-1 was incredibly stable, agile, and fast (with a bigger motor) and very easy to fly (despite the large engine). Because of it's flying qualities, simplicity and gorgous looks, James called the design "White Bliss", because it was such fun and joy to fly. The NA-1 was marketed as both an air racer and a civilian sports aircraft. The model remained in production well into the 1940's and 1950's. Even when production stopped, it's legacy lived on in more refined models.

"White Bliss" would go on to win many air races (or at least get on the podium).

Top speed I got was 250MPH straight and level. With XML modded 1,500HP, I got up to 300MPH. But because of the tournament, I limited to 1,000HP.

AG-1 = Landing Lights

NOTE: This airplane DOES have XML modding (mainly to position and resize parts) using Overload and Fine Tuner, but the ENGINE is at the default-allowable 1,000HP, and the fuel tanks are at default-allowable levels. However the panels/parts that are over the wings to make the aircraft look realistic do have their mass reduced since the airplane would be constructed of wood. If any of my XML modding goes against the rule, I'm not trying to cheat or break any rules, but I simply want my plane to look realistic.

Enjoy and happy flying!

I also wanted this to go in the Indy Air Race but it has XML modded parts so it's not legal for it. Currently making another version that complies with prop class.
