In the mid-1970s, the F-15 Eagle and F-16 Fighting Falcon put the Eastern Bloc in trouble. The launch of the SU-27 Flanker and MiG-29 Fulcrum in the mid-1980s brought the situation into balance. Designed as a high-performance fighter with a fly-by-wire control system and the ability to carry up to 10AAM. The SU-27's superb maneuverability is one of the most impressive aircraft ever built. The first prototype "Flanker-A" flew on 20 May 1977 and was designated "Flanker B" in 1984. Development of the SU-27 fighter was completed in the early 1980s, and thereafter setting more than 40 world records for speed at altitude and take-off. . SU-27 aircraft operate not only in Russia and the CIS countries, but also in China and Vietnam. China also bought a license for the production of its own SU-27 aircraft. In 1997 Sukhoi signed a contract with Vietnam for $ 180 million to supply 6 SU-27s (2 SU-27SK and 4 SU-27UB). Sukhoi sent 4 of them in 1996 and 2 were destroyed when the transport boat crashed into an apartment block in Irkutsk. The SU-27 aircraft has a medium-mounted wing (in the middle of the fuselage) and is semidelta-shaped with a box tip. The LERX extends below and in front of the wing roots. There are two engines in the fuselage. There are box-shaped and "diagonally-cut" "air intakes", mounted under the wing along the sides of the fuselage. The aircraft body is rectangular from the air duct to the tail of the plane. The nose is tapered and there is a bubble canopy.
