Auto Credit Based on Pilotmario's Colt M16A2

"The M16 rifle is the best assault rifle in the world, a standard all seek to match. Some say it's the EA-47. Some say it's the (StG-)220. Others like the FK-15. But the thing is, when they speak of their favorite weapon, they always compare it to the M16."
-Gen. Jamie Wilson, Paternian Republic Marine Corps

Variant of the M16A3 employed by the Paternian Army and standard issue to all infantry, featuring an 18" barrel and a unique collapsiable stock based off of the original M16 stock. The unique feature of the M16A5 is that the weapon is 100% 3D printed, lowering costs and improving reliability considerably. The rifle is fitted with the M8 Bayonet.

@YuukaNeko All our military rifles and shotguns must retain the ability to mount a bayonet, although submachine guns are exempt in order to allow for a shorter barrel. Soldiers issued with these weapons are still issued bayonets, as the Paternian bayonet is a multi-purpose tool that is also a wire cutter (with scabbard), utility knife, and fighting knife, and issuing a separate knife to do the same thing would be nonsensical.

The bayonet is a potent psychological weapon, and bayonet charges are a regular maneuver in Paternian Army service, alongside more modern fire and maneuver tactics, usually when a unit must quickly cross open ground of short distance under hostile fire. Although not as important as it was several centuries ago, the bayonet is still relevant enough that it be included.

Because nobody questions the psychological effects of a company of soldiers running at you with long, pointy things and an expressed intent to jam it through your ribcage.
