Controls are identical to predecessor. An analysis of foreign division-level artillery pieces by the Paternian Armed Forces indicated deficiencies in the original M440 design, namely the limited gun elevation. In addition, the original carriage was prone to failure upon repeated use. These issues were remedied by a new carriage, which feature longer trails, wider stance wheels with greater ground clearance in the travelling position, and increasing the gun elevation from 60 degrees to 75 degrees, allowing it to employ plunging fire more effectively. The gun itself is identical to the original M440. While the original M440 performed well in combat, the M440A1 seeks to bring it to a higher standard.

@MemeKingIndustriesAndMegaCorporation 60 degrees was seen as adequate before the trials, when the effectiveness of having 75 degrees of elevation was noted.

Thus, we modified the carriage to achieve 75 degrees of elevation, with 3.75 degrees of depression.

Depression is limited in order to not stress the carriage excessively, as it was designed to principally absorb the recoil coming downward. Eliminating gun depression was considered, but the red legs (read: artillerymen) demanded that we have some, as they want to be able to defend themselves in case of an attack.
