Experiments with miniature nuclear reactors have been conducted for decades. A product of those experiments is the A-48 Model B, which is based on a 70-year-old attack plane design that saw use in the World War. The Model B is powered by two nuclear-powered rotors with extremely high RPM that give it extremely high speeds for a prop plane. The rest is unimportant, as it was clear this venture wouldn’t be able to be militarized due to the price outweighing the potential result, so this aircraft was sold to civilian markets. It found to be very popular as a recreational craft among the wealthy, who would compete with each other in sporting events with their planes and whatever modifactions they made. This aircraft design sold best in Scandinavia and China.
