The SNCASO Espadon is a French interceptor prototype. Several versions were built or rebuilt under the names SO.6020, SO.6021, SO.6025 and SO.6026. The underpowered aircraft never entered service, the Dassault Ouragan being preferred. It was then used for the development of SO.9000 Trident engines and aerodynamic studies in transonic regime.
The Espadon was the first European aircraft to break the sound barrier in level flight.
For combat, it has an AA20 hand-guided missile, as well as 4x20mm cannons. Which makes it a terribly dangerous aircraft.
