The M220A SL-AMRAAM ADS-LV is one of three components of the SL-AMRAAM ADS, the other two being a command vehicle and a radar system. This designation applies only to the system itself; when mounted on an M130 Tracked Carrier, it is referred to as the M220B SL-AMRAAM ADS-LV, Bravo denoting that it is mounted to a tracked chassis. While it is most effective when employed as part of the trio, the launcher can engage targets on its own via boresight mode, where the missile has no external guidance and relies on its own radar to pick up a target. This is most useful against a large numbers of hostile aircraft, when volume of fire is more important than precision. For playability, this vehicle does not require a separate radar and command unit to function.
