When sophisticated systems fail, you have to do things the old-fashioned way.

Here the test pilot performs the highly realistic maneuver called the 'Sled Spin', just to get a good orbit camera view of the bomb gliding to its target.

Video

Controls

  • Custom camera 1: Cockpit view
  • AG1: Afterburner
  • AG2: High agility mode
  • AG3: Release bomb

Dive-bombing Instructions

The general rules are:

  • The longer your approach, the more time you have to line it up properly.
  • The steeper the dive, the easier it is to hit the target.

For beginners, I'd recommend climbing to 20,000 feet or so, and approaching along the ship's centerline. Line up on the ship and when close enough, start a steep dive. Select camera 1 for cockpit view and keep the reticle aimed at the ship. Release the bomb at between 10,000 and 5,000 feet and pull up.

Note that using high-agility pitch mode while the bomb is still attached to the airplane will cause the airplane and the bomb to wobble, and will hinder aiming. Normal pitch mode (AG2 off) will do just fine.

@KSPFSXandSP You mean the cosmetic bomb casing, or the bombs themselves? If the former, it's about 60 feet long and 8 feet in diameter. Makes for nice videos.

If you mean what actual bombs I'm using, it contains two Boom 50s scaled up 3x.

@phanps Er, it's not me, it's the airplane :) That's why I uploaded it, so that anyone can perform the maneuver if they want to.

@BaconRoll When you get a direct hit, it really is awesome. Luckily it's not difficult with this airplane, I can get direct hits on the Beast about 80% of the time.

@Davisplanez It's just a bomb-like shape comprised of fuselage blocks, containing two bombs, attached to some detachers. You can drag it off this build by using the "pylon" attaching the bomb to the airplane. It's probably too large for most builds, though.
