Summary

The AV-6B Kestrel is a Paternian single-engine V/STOL-capable naval attack jet. Named after a type of hawk, the Kestrel can conduct various missions ranging from close support, naval strike, and armed reconnaissance. Despite its subsonic-only performance, it can serve as a credible fighter on account of its agility and the ability to mount AIM-120D AMRAAM and AIM-9X Sidewinder air-air missiles.

Capabilities

The AV-6B Kestrel is a multirole attack jet with secondary capability as a fighter. With six hardpoints, it can carry a combination of the following:

Mk 80 family (Mk 83/84 on inner wing only)
Paveway family (Mk 83/84 on inner wing only)
JDAM family (Mk 83/84 on inner wing only)
BLU-109 bunker buster (inner wing only)
B61 nuclear bomb (inner wing only)

Missiles:

2x AGM-88 HARM (inner wing only)
2x AGM-290D HSLAM (inner wing only)
4x AIM-9 Sidewinder (outer and center wing only)
6x AGM-114 Hellfire ATGM
6x AIM-120 AMRAAM

Rockets:

2.75" NATO-pattern (Hydra 70 or CRV-7) in either 7-round or 19-round clusters on six hardpoints
5" Zuni in single-mount on Sidewinder-capable rails or in 4-round clusters on inner wing hardpoints.

Guns:

Internal 20mm M61 Vulcan
Gun pods, either 7.62mm Minigun, 12.7mm M3P, or 20mm M39
