History

WSS Resolute began her life as the unnamed fifth hull of the Vigilant class.
She was laid down in 1928, and saw extensive refits throughout her career (seen after her most extensive refit in 1939). She hosted many aircraft throughout her 30 year career, from SE-1's up to the Defiant Seagull and Gharial. She served in several smaller operations throughout her career, including most famously the sinking of YNS Thomasin in 1930, and observed during the failed overthrow of the Maywar Shah in 1934.

Controls

Oh boy, are there a lot of controls:
AG1 Ship's Engine and yaw
AG2 Launch NF-3 Fighter/reconnaissance aircraft/ Activate Elevator
AG3 Launch TB-1 mod. 1928 torpedo aircraft
AG4 Drop torpedo
AG5 SE-3 parachute
AG6 TB-1 Parachute
AG7 Reverse
AG8 AA Guns/ Anti-washout wall
VTOL: Down= collapse NF-3 wings
WASD: Planes/AA controls
Trim: Lower elevators
Yaw: Steer the ship (turn off AG1 to more easily steer the aircraft on the deck)

Tips on landing and subsequent procedure on WSS Resolute
Both aircraft can be launched, landed, and re-launched from the carrier, in my opinion quite easily, I've managed to pull it off so much it has become no big deal in a short amount of time. That said, there are several tips and tricks I have picked up during my time as an naval aviator, and I will share them with you here:

  • I suggest you take off when the ship is at full speed, to provide more lift (the SE-3 may have trouble taking off otherwise)
  • Similarly, I suggest landing while the ship is at speed (thus the reason for the engine control being turned off with AG1.
  • TURN OFF AG8 BEFORE TAKEOFF!! Many successful takeoffs have been thwarted because of some strange quirk of the "mouse control" option.
  • After landing, I suggest you wait for the ship to slow down before taxiing to the elevator, as manuvering on the flight deck becomes sluggish at speed.

Destruction of YNS Thomasin

After the end of the Yeager-Wright War, many in the Yeager Navy believed that Wright would begin a military expansion campaign and disband the Yeager Navy. As a result, many members of the Yeager navy rebelled and hid their ships in the islands that dotted the region, raiding shipping and creating a name for themselves as legends. The destruction of the Renegade Class Destroyer WSS Kindly began a period of so called "anti pirate activities", with Resolute being a major player in this. When YNS Thomasin slipped from her moorings in the pre-dawn hours of August 25, Resolute was sent to pursue her, and after a brief chase two TB-1s caught up with her off the coast of Bandit, just where her and her sisters had fought the Wright battle line a decade or so before.

Thomasin on Manuvers 1930

The explosion caused by TB #2. Thomasin lost 800 of her 1350 man crew

The first torpedo plane failed to hit her mark, and as the fog rolled in the second aircraft scored a lucky hit amidships, detonating Thomasin in the largest explosion since her sinking of WSS Ephion. The two aircraft got lost in the fog, with one ship ditching and the other landing near bandit, prompting the installation of landing lights aboard Resolute.

Final Notes
- Hope you enjoy!! Super proud of how this one came out, and will definitely try another carrier in the future. Speaking of the future, my upload schedule is about to be seriously kneecapped by school starting soon, though I have several on-deck builds that are either completed or mostly-completed that I'll upload throughout the year.
