C-27B “Atlas” Heavy Lift Transport

The C-27B Atlas is a next-generation heavy transport aircraft designed to close the operational gap between the C-130J and C-17 Globemaster III. Retaining the C-17’s cockpit layout for training and systems compatibility, the Atlas introduces a radical blended-wing lifting body with no conventional tail surfaces. Its wide, thick wing roots house additional cargo space and fuel storage, combining aerodynamic efficiency with exceptional internal volume.

Power is delivered by two top-mounted turboprop pods, each containing twin counter-rotating rotors similar in diameter to those of the V-22 Osprey. This configuration provides strong lift, short-field capability, and enhanced thrust redundancy. Despite costing roughly 22% more than the C-17, the Atlas offers superior fuel economy, greater structural strength, and higher payload efficiency within a more compact footprint, making it a capable next-generation solution for both tactical and strategic airlift missions.

I got my drive to build again after a comically stressful academic month. I have a few builds that are in line to be published but I'm gonna post another tomorrow if I remember to publish

Special thanks to the legendary MAPA for the C-17 Globe Master cockpit, I burrowed it
