Controls
Read All Notes, Unconventional Flight System, Large Model

  • AG1: Main Flight Engine
  • AG2: VTOL/Hover Engine
  • AG3: Activate Weapons
  • AG8: Disable RCN system

Note 1: This vehicle is a VTOL landing and Takeoff only. You must first go into a HOVER (AG2) at least 90% power in order to takeoff, and switch to FLIGHT mode (AG1) to fly forward. To land use Hover (AG2) at anything below 75% power. Remember to turn off AG2 once you are in FLIGHT mode (AG1).

Note 2: Due to the large drag model, the right engine set, bottom left most engine has been added extra thrust to counter the models tendency to yaw. If you are adding any addition weapons or changes you may need to adjust it. The outside engines are mainly for show, behind each engine set is the actual thrust producing engines.

Note 3: Large model, must take off from a large area, do not spawn under a hanger. This things was meant to be lite and is mobile for some devices, mainly tablets and phones with a good processor. I use a Android Turbo with a Snapdragon Quad Core, but some phones may run into issues.

Description
Type: Multipurpose Light Speeder
Crew: 3 (1 Pilot, 2 Crewmates)
Weapons: 4 Heavy Pulse Lasers, 9 Guardians

Manufacturer: Faulcon Delacy

Overview:

The Krait MkII is a unique ship and successor to the MKI, which was built around the 3100's. The original design, was a lightweight maneuverable medium ship which was built upon with added flexibility and versatility of the new MKII. For some, their Krait is a dedicated combat ship, sporting a large Hanger, and enough firepower to hold it's own with the addition of nimble ship launched fighters. For others, it is used as a trader, or a heavy duty transport moving goods through the dangerous parts of space. For other like myself, it brings everything you need to explore the galaxy. Mines is currently floating around Sagittarius A.

Simple Planes and it's physics engine has done me the favor of making it a flying battle cruiser, and I'm not exactly thrilled since the small scale model was really agile. It'll fly sluggish compared to fast and agile fighters, but turn on a dime. Flapless designs tend have the ability to perform post stall maneuvers at low speeds with ease, and this design capitalizes on it, allowing a commander to pivot with lock on to a targets.

Being the size of an aircraft carrier, I wanted to make it to scale of the game model, so don't be alarmed by it's size, and it's speed, or lack there of. I kept a parts budget of 900 to keep it relatively light, as well as mitigate any moving parts to take an easy on my hardware, and make it mobile. I may go back someday and update when I get better equipment, like more details, better weapons, maybe even a ship launched fighter, at least the hard part of building the thing is done.

The Eagle and the Krait MKII are really the main ships I use, so if Elite Dangerous does fade away someday, at least somewhere people can still fly these ships. I was thinking of building a Python, but lets be honest, the Python is a waste of money when you can buy a mini fighter carrier. I may do some other ED ships in the future, but I have more of my own design in the works as well as some from Eve. I'm happy it runs on my phone, since the entire build was a balancing act. For now though, I think my poor laptop needs a break.

It's being posted of additional testing and archiving

Hey guys, thanks for the upvotes and I hope you enjoy the model. Recently I've been tuning it and fixing many issues, primarily the speed issue. Since the update there are some other things I want to do to really bring out the best in this design and you can expect the same to be done with my Eagle as well. I'll probably have an updated version ready sometime early November.

@Gluck thanks, Elite Dangerous players fall into a small niche in the SP community. It's not like a Millennium Falcon, or the latest version of a Suhkoi from Ace Combat. This build is for a small community, maybe somebody missing their Krait, Eagle, or maybe even Anaconda while they are on the road. Upvotes are cool, but giving someone the ability to take their ship with them anywhere they go is well worth the labor.

Update in the works, the drag model on this thing is terrible and has been improved along with better handling, more armor and bigger guns. I have some larger ships planned so I want this thing to feel more like a light Corvette in comparison.

@Falco7 It'd be a lot easier, the Krait was annoying to build due to all the crazy angles. A Python should be a little more straight forward.

    @EchoWhiskey11 What about a Python?

@Falco7 Thanks it's always good to see other ED players in the community, now I may have to build the Anaconda, it just wouldn't seem right not to at this point.

@idk201011323 When I first tested it on the convoy, I accidently ran them over with the thing, went though some windmills in the process, and flew away. Yeah, it's a hefty bird.

@Inferno543 I was thinking of adding a small fighter like a Taipan at some point but it's just too many parts for my computer to run.
