Fenris Air Factory XS-002 Aquila

12.9k Griffon1  3.5 years ago

The XS-002 Aquila is manufactured by Fenris Air Factory in order to solve the need for a high altitude interceptor. It could be considered the successor to Project 8118. The intended goal was to replace the SRF-34A, but speed wise it fell very short. It was turned into an attacker, sporting a fair amount of micro missiles.
While the speed didn't keep up with the ridiculous SRF-34, it is by no means slow. it maintains about the same speed as most other fighters. This, paired with its good agility and multi purpose missiles, makes it a good stopgap fighter, too.
As with the XS-001 and probably the rest of the XS- series, the XS-002 is somewhat vulnerable to damage. There are no countermeasures, but provisions are made. The operations cost is high as well.
The aircraft also experiences extreme vibrations above 1200+ mph at low altitudes.
