The Expeditionary Tank is a Paternian light tank concept developed by KRIEG as an competitor to the Bandit Stingray Light Tank. Armed with a 105mm M7A1 rifled gun similar to that employed on the M65A1 and M65A3 tanks, it was mounted on a remotely-operated oscillating turret with a conveyor-type automatic loader with 18 rounds. While the technology was promising, it was insufficiently mature and it suffered from mechanical issues in trials. As a result, the vehicle was passed over in favor of the more conventional Stingray. The turret, with further development, would be employed on the M258 Mobile Gun System, formally 105mm Mobile Gun System M258.
