Proof of concept: Flying Wing with no vertical surfaces

This flying wing uses airbrakes set to AngleOfSlip on the end of each wingtip for lateral stability instead of tail surfaces. It works, but the plane sways from side to side quite a bit at high speed and when banking without turning. Still, it's perfectly flyable! Enjoy!

This was just a test to see if it was possible, and, well, it kinda is!

I ended up using a PID controller and it works beautifully! @jamesPLANESii

Yeah. I would highly recommend that. I built this before the rate stuff was added and it does suffer quite a lot from swaying @lemoose

Lol im working on a proof of concept for a flying wing using funky trees too, looks very similar. Im using angle of slip but its becoming clear i also need to incorporate slip rate and roll/ roll rate as well

I wasted 4 hours to find vertical stabilizer. you defeated me.

I used to be the person who was following the most people, but the RailfanEthan caught me up and we had a race and then I gave up and he was victorious @SpicyLuckster

No, you’re looking at the accounts I’m following, not following me lol @SpicyLuckster

I noticed most of the accounts following you are suspicious such as, they all joined 5 years ago, or they have simple names, are they all fake just for upvoting ur creations and following you, or are they real?

I was trying to figure out how to do this, simpleplanes physics are ok but I mean there not “realistic” so I wasn’t thinking outside of the box like this.

If you make a flying wing with some dihedral you will decrease the slip phenomenon related with the lack of rudder. Happy flights.

This may be the first actual plane in this game that uses real world ideas to fly
