The F/A-12 Pouncer is a variable wing, multirole aircraft. It was designed for mid range attacks and for fast takeoff. Equipped with 4 AAM and 2 ASM, it can handle itself pretty well. The pouncer wasn't designed with a nose gun for specific reasons: it's purpose did not require a nose gun which would cause longer development time, the nosegun would have been too close to the cockpit, and it would have had a very short supply of amuniton due to the planes build. 231 have been built with a total kill record or 14 air to air kills and 46 air to ground kills.
