''DodecaDecimator'' Clusterbomb

Hello everyone, today PyrhPan brings forth to the SP Website yet another creation, designed with meticulous engineering, craftsmanship, and a whole lot of boomboom.

Now typically at Pyrhpan, we fight hard, and we prove to be unstoppable in the face of war. There are certain rules however, when it comes to the way we fight. One of which, is to refrain from the usage of Nuclear Weapons. It would seem like an obvious rule at first, but if there’s anything that we can learn from the past few decades, it’s that Nuclear Weapons immensely powerful, which would usually be perfect for our sense of weaponry, but given the fact that they leave radioactive waste everywhere, and cause more death and destruction than necessary, they fall into the category of “Cruel Bombs”.

There is however, another solution to this.

Clusterbombs are a very curious weapon, utilizing the shell to contain multiple smaller bomblets that when used in massive numbers, can carry out the same destructive force of a typical general purpose bomb. Although they’re less commonly used among bomber loadouts, they still prove to pack quite the punch. PyrhPan however, took the concept a step further, and has created a weapon with incredible destructive power, without the useage of nuclear forces.

Meet the DodecaDecimator, the direct offshoot of the Hexecutioner, seen in a testing video of mine long ago. With 12 sets of 10 bomblets, it launches out 120 bomblets at varying distances, completely blanketing the ground below in explosions and chaos. These bomblets are very small, only a few inches in diameter, but they hold something very special inside of them; Plasma.

Plasma is normally a generally harmless substance, it can obviously be dangerous when used in irresponsible ways, but it typically doesn’t cause much harm when controlled. Oftentimes marveled by children in the form of Plasma Globes, or experimented on by scientists in Particle Research Laboratories. But when you give plasma to a Weapons Development Facility, that’s when the fun begins!

Inside the bomblets of the DodecaDecimator, lies a canister that holds a gas to be ionized. This is the catalyst of the reaction. When the bomblet hits the ground, impact sensors alert the canister to start ionizing the gas at extremely rapid speeds, via built-in heating nodes. This ionizes the gas very quickly, only taking a second to become a plasma, which obviously destroys the canister in the process, releasing the plasma reaction into the air around it.

While this would normally be a relatively small explosion, we’ve given it a few tricks that really amp up the power. This gas is superheated to such a high temperature, that the plasma itself actually starts ionizing other gas particles around it, including the oxygen particles, nitrogen particles, and other elements that make up our atmosphere. This causes a brief, but immensely powerful chain reaction that produces a great load of force. The ensuing explosion is still relatively small in size when compared to that of general purpose bombs, but it’s not the explosion itself that causes damage;

The shockwave of the plasma explosion, combined with the extreme heat it produces, is enough to significantly damage anything in the immediate vicinity. The actual visible explosion is in fact small compared to the area of effect, it’s as if the bomblet creates a massive invisible explosion radius, with a tiny explosion in the middle to mask it’s destructive power from a distance.

This bomblet by itself is very powerful, and can be used in a myriad of ways. But of course that’s not enough, so we shoved 120 of them into a huge clusterbomb. Because yes.

Controls: due to the nature of the bomb, I unfortunately couldn’t make it a “custom bomb” that can be released with the FireWeapons button, so you’ll have to settle with AG-1. I recommend that you release it at an altitude between 5,000 and 10,000ft, otherwise if you’re too low, you may catch yourself in the explosion radius. Alternatively if you’re too high, the distance between bomblets may become too large for adequate destruction amongst every area of ground beneath the bomb’s release, making for areas of potential lack of effectiveness.

Do note that when released, the bomb immediately deploys four parachutes of varying size, so that it stops quickly enough to level out, for more geometrically perfect bomblet deployment. This is important to note, as this greatly affects the method of dropping the bomb. Rather than utilizing the parabolic trajectory of the bomb, and relying on it’s momentum to carry itself to the target, pay attention to what’s directly beneath you instead. The bomb stops moving forward through the air due to the parachutes, and is more accurate if you drop the bomb directly over the target, rather than from a distance away.

Interesting notes:
• Can destroy both bridges and the entire convoy at Yeager in one fell swoop, although it is very hard to do and I’ve only done it once, I imagine it’s more of a luck-based trickshot than a skill-based one
• Can blanket all of Maywar if used at a high enough altitude
• Icebase has a stroke when you use this thing, atleast from my experience. The anti-warhead laser designators try desperately to eliminate every bomblet, but the sheer number of bomblets kinda makes this impossible for them lol
• The amount of shrapnel launched by this bomb has crashed my phone at times, so do be careful when using this if you’re on a relatively low power device. If those bomblets didn’t have their collisions disabled, I’d imagine it would be an absolute nightmare to fly through the hailstorm of rocks and debris that this thing fires into the air. (for context, if you set the disableAircraftCollisions value to true on a Bomb, the chunks of shrapnel it unearths will also have collisions disabled, and cannot be interacted with. This means you can fly right through them, without needing to worry about getting hit. The actual DodecaDecimator doesn’t even come close to this much shrapnel when it’s bomblets detonate, but this is SimplePlanes, and there’s not much I can really do about it if I want to keep the power it has)
• The Bomb is a bit wobbly when you maneuver at great AoA’s, due to the detachers and their reliably buggy physics, even when nothing too heavy is attached to them. Again, not much I can do about it, just the nature of the game

Anyway, that’s all. This weapon will definitely find itself in the bombays of the XFWB, and any other bomber whose fancy is suited by this bomb. After all, it’s not just us in PyrhPan, it’s any nation that is allied with us, no matter how big or small. Of course, such power comes with responsibility, that goes without saying. And as long as that rings true, there’s never a moment of distrust among us, and we can almost always count on each other to keep control of their arsenals. Like we say, never be the first aggressor! And as always...

Have Fun!

Also the stock P-51 probably isn’t the best thing to mount this on, but atleast it looks kinda funny I think

@THEYE somewhere around 250, by the looks of it. 120 bomblets, 120 detachers for said bomblets, and a few other structural parts and visual designs.

@Nerfaddict that would be unfathomably powerful, but I have a feeling it would crash a NASA Computer if you tried to fire it lmao

@Skyplayz I like how I specified in the description that it technically doesn’t really violate any war laws and people are still calling it warcrimes lmao
And tbh this wouldn’t really be our main bomb either, kinda just a last minute “only way to be sure” bomb.

Also o really would like to see one of these with the bombs collision enabled. Would the shrapnel work as an anti aircraft device too? Potentially making this anti ground and air?
