The T-08 "Goliath" was created by the Anwalt design bureau for the army, which needed a successor to the T-05 "Goblin", a super-heavy tank weighing 196 tons, which no longer suited them due to problematic transportation and insufficient firepower.

The new tank weighs 148 tons, is smaller and has better armor than its predecessor.

The tank was equipped with a modernized 152 mm gun with an elongated barrel, piercing 298 mm of armor at point-blank range, and a 30-mm automatic gun was also installed to combat light armored vehicles and enemy infantry clusters. The commander and driver are equipped with modern infrared night vision devices. The commander also received a new commander's cupola, similar to that of medium tanks.

The tank received a diesel power plant similar to the T-06 and boosted to 1200 horsepower.
