I’ve been using this aircraft a lot at the moment. Probably because it’s based on a real aircraft. It’s also (roughly) to scale (even the gun has the same specs as the real one), although I think the wingspan is a bit longer than it should be by a few feet.

Needless to say, this is the PAK FA T-50, produced by Sukhoi and due to be put into full production sometime soon. Those that are good at plane knowledge will know this is a 5th generation fighter.

Although, this is not the first stealth plane from Russia, they’ve been messing about with stealth for longer than the US after they introduced the Kozlov PS… A transparent aircraft. Russia was also the first to theorise stealth through geometric shaping, which gave rise to the classic general shape of stealth aircraft. The Mig 1.44 however, was arguably Russia’s first stab at a 5th generation fighter which sported a radar cross section which was allegedly comparable to the F-22 Raptor. Mainly due to its plasma stealth technology which reduced its RCS by around 100 times. One can’t help but wonder if such technology is implemented on the PAK FA or for that matter other aircraft in the Russian air force, with numerous reports suggesting the technology is implemented on both the SU-35 and Mig-35… Not sure how credible that is though.

Anyway, the Mig 1.44 project has assumed to have been abandoned, although there is no official evidence to suggest this. This then gave rise to the PAK FA T-50 (joint with India) project, with the aircraft due to go into full scale production very soon. There is also a rumour that the PAK FA will have a photonic radar implemented in/around the year 2020, which is rumoured to allow is to easily detect stealth aircraft, as well as provide a more powerful radar when compared to current radar systems.
Without a doubt, the PAK FA is one of the most advanced aircraft out there, with a lot of potential and mystery surrounding the aircraft. And for these reasons, it’s currently my favourite aircraft.
