Wow you saw Draco at Reno? That is too cool man! I went to the Reno Air Races back in 2016. Definitely one of the best airshows on the planet! I had a feeling Mike was going to rebuild Draco (I mean come on, the dude's enthusiasm & spirit is bullet-proof!), although when Chandra & Mike said Draco's damage was worse than they thought (and Draco was considered totaled), I thought that would be the end for Draco. But boy am I glad I'm wrong! :D

man when I heard about it I couldn't believe the news. I was at Reno, walked around the monster myself, even touched it. i never would have thought something so tragic could happen to that invincible seeming airplane. but then it happened and I was shocked. I talked to my friend about it, whose favorite airplane is Draco (besides his Stinson 108) and he said mike would build it better than ever and i didn't think it was going to happen but... There's the proof. the dragon is coming back to life soon! @JohnnyBoythePilot

Oh nice! Yea that would be pretty sweet. I haven't been able to make the Arlington Fly-In anymore since it just so happens to run during the same week I'm gone on an annual camping trip in Winthrop, WA during early August.

KENT? Bruh your like 60-70 miles south of me. I'm in Arlington (actually I'm a little more in Stanwood, but everyone knows Arlington/Marysville better than a small town like Stanwood). That's so cool I didn't realize the Speedmail was that quick. Although I figured it must have been a fast plane back then considering the name. I think the New Standard D-25 is the only classic I've flown in. Other general aviation aircraft I've flown in (and have flown at the controls) include a Cessna 172M Skyhawk, Cessna 172S Skyhawk II, and my friend's homebuilt Murphy Rebel bushplane.

NO WAY!!! I live in Kent! Biplanes are pretty cool. The guy who flew me... his mom flies a boeing model 75. I’ve flown it. @JohnnyBoythePilot btw the speedmail flies at 130 mph... that’s like Mach 3 in 1929.

Wow that's so cool! Spokane you say? Sounds like your not too far from my neck of the woods (I live West of the Cascade Mountains). My first flight in a bi-plane was in a New Standard D-25 at the Arlington Fly-In 2 years ago. That was quite a ride; much different than a closed-cockpit aircraft that I'm more used to. By the end of that flight, my face & hair smelled like burnt oil & from the exposed radial engine. ;) The Sherpa is a pretty cool turbine bushplane.

@jamesPLANESii Maybe I underestimated the potential badassery of a Patey-Turbine converted Helio Courier. Here's one for sale on controller.com in Alaska, and it already looks like a beast!

Yup. I mean just look at that monster tailwheel on Scrappy! And then there's the giant bush wheels he teased at the end for Scrappy. Boy that suspension is gonna be SICK! Big motor, light airframe, crazy suspension, huge thicc prop that bites a ton of air; Scrappy is gonna launch like a freaking dragster, and that's what Mike wants when he competes in STOL drag.

Also there were 27 Wilga 2000s made. And believe it or not, Draco is actually the last Wilga 2000 ever made, so Mike has owned both the first and last Wilga 2000 lol
