How to NOT Be a noob guide to Simpleplanes vol. 1 Basic Plane Guide

15.7k Stormfur  5.0 years ago

Hello there!!! I am just here to explain the basics of how to build what people want to see in simpleplanes. So if you a a high level and wondering wtf to this post, this is for NEW players and you can bare with it or leave

Lets start of with the common things

Planes

So let's start with this basic F-16. There are serval bonuses and negatives to the design and i will discuss a few of them. Let's start with the negatives

First off, Logos and details. We all know that the mirror tool is very convenient when it comes to building things quickly and symmetrical. It isn’t bad to use it but many things like logos and details are only on one wing and look better not on both wings. This plane has bland looks due to lacking details like tail numbers and logos. Also the tiger stripe pattern was not incorporated into the fighter’s back, along with a boring orange paint taking away more appeal.
Another downside is lack of weaponry. Everyone expects a plane to do what it is named for. Like a B-17 drops bombs and a Cessna 172 is a personal use craft This is a F-16 fighter but it lacks weaponry of any type, and without impressive looks to make up for it, the plane’s popularity will be severely affected.

Now this is cool

However, there is a bonus to it. A HUGE portion of the SP community plays on Android or ios devices and since it is under 200 parts, it is hugely mobile friendly and available to 10s of thousands of players

But however what is next if you think your plane looks good? Well you skipped a VERY important step: Flight and controllability. This is the most important thing a plane or anything does. To be honest, you can’t rush builds like a mass producer of cheap stuffed bears because the bears head will fall off and give some little kid depression, or in this case, it will affect your account. you can't do it YET anyways. i will discuss why in the next book.

Planes take at least over 12 hours or more to build and do basic testing before it is ready. Rushing also can hurt you by spamming planes into the community every day that are complete trash or even spamming the same plane into the community over and over can get you banned!(check rules)

Another vol. will come soon discussing more things that are suggested

Some times, you need to build the flight model first before anything else. Details should weight 0 and no drag to eliminate autoroll issues.
Sometimes, I build for weeks and even months for a better result time, effort and patience is the key.

This post is lacking shadows. Other than that, good.

Some times you don't exactly need a bomb-ass decal to make your plane look good
    .
Making them proportional and smooth looking is also another way

I've made some planes that do not need guns and they've done very good. I do not think it's necessary to put weapons everywhere.
