Is 600 Mobile Friendly?

18.7k F104Deathtrap  5.4 years ago

Tupolev TU-22M3 "Backfire-C" coming soon to a telephone near you, maybe.

People of the internet, I have a question for you. Can your mobile device run a 600 piece plane?

My current project (see above) got a little out of control and blew up into 725 parts before I had even added a cockpit interior. No good. I'm going to keep adding to it, but I will also upload a mobile version. Right now I've got the mobile one down to 600 parts but if I go any lower things are going to get ugly.

So let me know what you think. I only have the Steam Edition, so I have no experience running this game on a phone etc.

EDIT: It seems most of you have a mobile device that can run a 600 part build, though it is not for everyone.

If you have like, a 4+GB ram, then maybe it is, but I have 3 and it starts to lag around 450 parts.
300-400 parts for a good phone, 200-300 for a med-high end phone, +-100 for potatoes

@Gameboi14 Understood, thank you. I will try to make an ultra potato version but no garauntees.

So, where was I? Oh yes, by 300 parts, your game might start to slow down, so 600 parts, that's twice the lag

@asteroidbook345 Correct, I'm just trying to get a feel for what kind of fraction of the community can be reached with this build. As someone said earlier, only a 150 part plane would truly be completwly mobile friendly. The problem is that such a plane would have little in common with this one.

600 parts seems good to my mobile @F104Deathtrap

@Gameboi14 Exactly. I've found that people tend to treat you differently based on how you communicate, so I try to talk like I'm smart. Sometimes I manage to fool people.

@Gameboi14 New Vegas was a great game, I can understand your desire to roleplay. It's just not my thing.

@TitanIncorporated Funny you mention that, the Dauntless has moving parts like fleas on a dog. All those silly little dials and cockpit stuff, the tailgun, I didn't know how to make wings properly so it's got like 20 little wings hidden all over the place. lol People always say moving parts cause lag, but maybe it's something else?

@jamesPLANESii I know some people can only run like 50 parts but each missile is almost that many. I can strip off the white belly paint (which will require rebuilding the entire plane) and maybe use only one Kh-22 missile, but even then it's going to be around 450-500 parts.

Actually my phone can play 800+ parts plane at 10-15 fps

I can run my Convair 580 relatively smoothly on high everything except shadows on my iPad lol.

I’d say below about 450 parts is mobile friendly.

My iPad could handle it, but I wouldn’t exactly call my iPad an average powered mobile device. XD

Depends on the make and model. My iPad mini can’t, but my iPhone 7 can

@Jetliner101 What I'm learning from this is that I will probably need to make a third "potato" grade version. It's not going to be easy because I'll have to reattach all the moving parts, but it'll give me plenty of time to complete the full-count version.
