Detailed Cockpits

11.9k Eggplant  6.0 years ago

I want to make a detailed cockpit with an interior but I am having trouble with the exterior. My problems are with getting the right shape without the fuselage pieces protruding. I don’t want to spend another hour on a 787 cockpit just to delete it for being inaccurate :( Oh, and any advice on the cockpit windows would be appreciated :)

This is my target

Use a common technique as using a blueprint or a white print. These may help your cockpit stuff.

The most common technique I’ve seen is a real small cockpit interior located above the cockpit. Let’s say the plane has a cockpit the size of 3 units. The interior of that is a separate model shrunk to the size of 0.5 units. Then the cockpit block is then moved to the location of the interior.
    .
This now has the effect of an actual interior cockpit in cockpit view without those pesky blocks protruding out.
    .
    .
    .
I will rephrase this. I hope you get what I mean.

Cockpits with interiors are time intensive, part intensive and all round very intensive builds, especially if you’re going for replica accuracy. Learn how to panel fuselages properly, along the likes of the TSAD team. QingyuZhou has some very nice airline cockpits, look at them and learn how he does them. Once you make a hollow fuselage, it’s relatively easy to panel the inside with fuselages, just be sure to leave till last to avoid breaking anything you might have in there.

Any tips though? I would like it to be smooth on the outside while still workable on the inside for the cockpit. @jamesPLANESii

You’d need some psychic powers to come to that conclusion so I’ll go ahead and try my best. That 807 next to my name doesn’t mean anything :) @jamesPLANESii

@StarKnight697 not sure tbh, a tip could be that you pretty much need the fine tuner mod and overload is also highly recommended and it allows you to make the levers etc weightless and much more

Ok.... well I’d wait until you’re really good until you build a detailed airliner cockpit. They’re hard...

Good luck on your build, i'm not the best at detailed interiors and i dont Think i have even made a plane with that (maybe i sould try sometime) so you will have to wait for somebody that is good with that tho pass by:)
