Simple but Useful tips-2 Making Realistic Wings

415k realSavageMan  6.1 years ago

Wings are the most difficult part while making airliners. Many people have asked me how to make wing flex, working flaps and ailerons. So, the picture (My Boeing 727) below explains everything.

  1. To make working flaps and ailerons, simply use the Whole Part Nudging Method I have explained earlier, as shown in the picture. Make sure to disable collisions for the spoilers and flaps

  2. To make realistic wing flex, seperate the wing to 2~3 sections and connect them with rotators. Do the following on the rotators using Overload:
    Max:0, Min:0
    Range:1, Speed:0.1

Do the following on the wing made out of fuselage parts:
Reduce as much weight as you can
Scale down a piece of structual wing and nudge it into the very end of the wing. This provides the essential lift to make wings flex.

@Ilikeacecombat actually no, if I’m not mistaken wings being quite flexible that is probably not gonna do much damage if any.

@QingyuZhou You should've tell me from the beginning that you use trim that work with flaps. Btw tysm for the help. This is the plane im building https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/woi3O3/A340-IIIIIII . A340-500. I will give you the credit when im done

Ehhh you cannot learn all these techniques all at once... I’ve been playing this game for almost 3 years lol. Just try figure out on your own after downloading planes I made. And yes customized flaps are just visual and I use tail trim that works with flaps.

So The flaps is just visual? So what item can act like the real flaps? Do you have a discord or any chat platform?

Thank you for ur info That was very usefull, I already downloaded ur A380 a couple of days ago. (no sarcasm). wait modded wing?

Do not tuck in any wings in the moving parts, instead tuck in a modded wing with roll control surface at the root of the wing. @Marthicc

Fuselages do NOT create lift. Only wings can create lift and like I said you should download one of my planes and see how I did it. @Marthicc

So you dont need a pitch control surface to make Flaps.
So the Flaps (moving fuslage) can generate lift itself?
    Im still confuse

    4.9 years ago

No need for tucking in control surfaces. Check out any of my newly built planes and you will see. @Marthicc

do you need a control surface if u r making working flaps?
Or the flaps itself (fuselage) can generate lift by making it move?

Ok thanks! I have a Boeing 767 fuselage, but I can’t get the wings right @QingyuZhou

I really love the whole part nudging technique. I'll have to try that on my next build.

It's always a good strategy to download one of my plane and check it out @CRJ900Pilot

Cool! But how do you make the control surfaces because the wing tapers down and gets thinner
