Criticism.

39.0k phanps  6.5 years ago

Lately there's been some drama in the community. Often times players are offended by others judging their creations.
Sometimes here criticism is seen as a negative and hateful thing. Which is not fair for others. Because then more drama begins.

You see, the concept of criticism is to be judged and told how you could do better on the things you do.
Criticism is not a bad thing at all. It is the complete opposite. it determines how good you will become. How will you adapt to others expectations?
If no one criticised my planes, then I'd be building trash. Same goes for everyone else.

It's sad to see that many classify criticism as this one evil thing. I'd be happy to get 5 paragraphs of judgement on my planes.

Having criticism doesn't mean hate, jealousy, abuse, no.
It means success, how will you overcome your limits.
Use that advice and you will certainly be a successful player, not even a player but a successful builder.
When you see criticism as a negative thing, you restrict yourself.
When you restrict yourself you have no room for improvement.
You as a human being have the capability to know what's right and what's wrong. Criticism is not wrong.
Take advantage of that. You will have the world in your hands. Not literally but symbolically.

Now i hope you read this.
Thanks for reading.

Thing is, trolling or hate can sometimes be put in the same bowl and create something that's neither of them.
While, in general, criticism is good, many people will mix it with their feelings. And I've seen this happen quite often.

Agreed, however it’s important to draw the line between acting like a know it all versus someone who’s trying to help.

I think you’re misunderstanding the term. Criticism is an unhelpful comment such as “your plane sucks”; while constructive criticism is a helpful statement such as “the plane is good, but try to work on more detailing.”

@QuantausAviation no offense but, "I just dropped the report hammer," sounds a little pretentious does it not? Maybe a straight forward, "I am reporting you if you don't take this down and reread the rules," would meet less hostility.

@jamesPLANESii "This plane sucks" is not criticism, maybe the person who said it sucks as well. ;)

Agreed. However, when the critisism is "this plane sucks", it's not exactly helpful. What sucks? Is the whole thing bad? I put all the effort in the universe into this plane, and it sucks. Maybe I suck all round. I'm not building any more cuz nobody likes the things I build. :(
