Give us metric

455 baconipple  6.7 years ago

The new update, Damage Control, is great and all, and I like the torpedoes and the Cleaver, but when do we get metric instruments? Seems like the kind of thing that would be easy as f**k to implement, especially compared to an entirely new mechanic. Just, applying a multiplier to the integer displayed in game, or something like that.

I got it wrong. the larger fuselage block is 1m, the normal small block is 0.5m. In other words 1 in-game unit=0.5m @CoolPeach

I agree even though I'm American and I use the imperial system it is a extremely important and quite easily added feature to any game

So it turns out the game has an inbuilt units system, which can be easily switched to metric with a mod. I've made a quick thing to flip it to metric and will hopefully upload shortly (though unity isn't opening right now....)

Converting blocks to meters is a lot easier than blocks to feet. A lot more players might put a little effort into basing their replicas off of blue prints.

This makes total sense, even though I don't use the metric system.

I'm trained in the metric system but if you ask me imperial is far superior when speaking about precision in aerodynamics. Most of the formulas are much easier to use and understand when using the imperial units

    Metric units:
    Like miles to kilometres
    Feet to metres
Just an option to switch between the two measurement systems @DJ123

I agree, having to continuesly switch units when constructing replica planes based on dimensions causes a lot of inaccuracies and hassle in general.
