We can make and save Sub-assemblies, then how about saving Custom Paint Schemes? For example, you open the paint menu, then there is a drop-down menu that lists all of your saved paint schemes. You can name them anything, such as Race, Stealth, Hypno, Fighter, and more. The scheme is also compatible with XML modding.

This is a great idea, but if you can XML edit you can copy and paste the theme from one plane to another. It's a pain but it does the job.
