Any tips to improve ship's maneuverability?

I made my first ship ever.. its quite small, you can fit it inside the plate in the designer. It doesnt go fast.. around 40mph.. the problem is it has very slow turning rate.. I'd like to fix this without resorting to VTOL engines. Any tips would be appreciated.. Thanks!

    @BoxGlow if you don't want to resort to VTOL, I would suggest you do this:
    Xml edit small propeller engine to have enormously thick blades, so that it can work under water, and put it on a rotator. Other option is to mount a structural wing on a rotator to work as a rudder. If you are too lazy to xml, you can find a propeller that works under water here.

    @BoxGlow put the engine on a Ag that wont be used and there will be no engine sound.

    @Himynameiswalrus Thank you...
    .
    I guess, no other choice then.. I would like avoid VTOLs because I dont like jet engine sound on a 1970 ship..

    @HiILikePie do you think I should get simpleplanes on steam? I dont have very much money right now (spent most of it on an airsoft gun) I want the islands a lot, but I think the wheels and stuff are good for now.

    @HiILikePie I prefer roll. whenever I use yaw I always accidently end up throttling down

    I would use VTOL engines if I were you. put one or two mozzles near the front on the inside of the hull, and set them to roll, and at lower speeds it turns on a dime
