[TSW] Straight for the Core

The SCOURGE is sending a message.

5:58 A.M., mostly clear sky, low wind...

All quiet on the MDA base. The SCOURGE has been conducting small strikes on Wright as of recent, but assistance from the new Alliance has repelled most of them. The new generation of PEAs has also proved dangerously effective in smothering SCOURGE forces in the skies. But 5:58 to 6:00 would be the last two minutes of quiet.

Around this time, some MDA LF-4s and SK-3s training in the area noticed a fleet of contrails flying at roughly 35,000 feet. The twin contrails proved a sign that it was a group of 12 Red Dash-Strikes. Their altitude and direction caused them and their leaders on the ground to think they were heading to Wright, where increasingly heavy forces were sure to stop them. Just to be safe though, two FI-90As were sent up to intercept. But at 5:59, an LF-4 and SK-3 shouted warnings over the radio as all twelve Dash-Strikes began a rapid dive- directly over the MDA's Yeager Headquarters. The sudden movement allowed the Dash-Strikes to narrowly dodge fire from the FI-90s, and by 6:00 A.M., the first shots from the Dash-Strikes had been fired.

The first blows are landed by a Red Dash-Strike B, using an AGM-25 missile to destroy MDA vehicles in the Krakabloa canyons.

Yeager's runway is damaged by bombs from one of the Dash-Strikes. Despite damages, the runway was considered operable, albeit with risks.

Rockets fly as the bridge connecting Yeager to the mainland is destroyed in the fray.

Head-on view of a Dash-Strike in the last moments of Yeager Bridge, which would ultimately succumb to the rocketfire and collapse into the water.

Yeager's hangars fall under fire from AGM-25s. An M49A3-A can also be seen launching flares desperately, but despite the effort, the shockwave still put the tank out of commission.

A TUPL-built ARV-22 meets its end under the 30mm cannons of the Red Dash-Strike B.

Ditto, but after the ARV-22 has been gunned down by the Dash-Strike. In the background, the M49A3-A from a couple pictures ago can be seen, or more accurately what's left of it. Also note how low the Dash-Strike is.

An LF-5A attempts to take off to fight the Scourge Jets, but is denied so as a Dash-Strike strafes it, disabling its right wing, right gear, and engine.

A Red Dash-Strike turns hard to make another attack run on Yeager.

A close pass over Yeager, observing the damage it caused.

The Red Dash-Strikes continued to pummel the MDA base for a whole hour. Only four of the twelve were shot down, with a single one being downed by MDA ground fire while an SK-3 with a railgun and an F3H with AIM-7s each claimed one Dash-Strike. The kills were described as "fire in the sky," as both destroyed Dash-Strikes were still carrying AGM-25s, which detonated.

The Red Dash-Strike B downed by the AIM-7 missile. The Dash-Strike had attempted to outturn the missiles, but lost too much energy and ultimately ended up slow enough to suffer a direct hit. The Dash-Strike B downed by an SK-3 was the exact opposite situation, flying in a straight line in hopes of gaining enough speed to escape, not realizing its lack of dodging would result in a fatal blow from the Crestelian attacker.

Another Red Dash-Strike B narrowly dodges an ACI F-15. 4 ACI F-15s helped repel the Red Dash-Strike, but didn't score any aerial victories (nor losses either). Despite this, they still applied pressure that scared off the Dash-Strikes effectively.

7:00 A.M.

At about 7:00 A.M., the Dash-Strikes began to retreat, instead paving way for a new opposition: Four Red Eliminator As, backed by an estimated 20 Red Opponent Cs. MDA aircraft were punstruck from the sudden attack from the Dash-Strikes, but they were much more prepared to fight the Scourge Jets at this point. Well, kind of. Many powerhouses like Vector, F-63, Skywolf and even a couple A-40Ds were unable to take off due to substantial damage to the hangars and runway. All aircraft involved were launched from either Bandit or already in air when the battle began. That said though, they held out astonishingly.

A PEA-G F-5E and Red Eliminator both launch flares rapidly to elude each others missiles.

A PEA-G A-10A launches flares to dodge missiles from a Red Eliminator. The A-10 would pass the initial missile barrage, but was severely damaged by the Elimator's guns, losing the left wing. It would make a rough landing somewhere off Yeager, surviving the encounter just barely.

A Red Opponent C flies by a Crestelian TK-3.

The same Red Opponent C explodes in the distance due to fire from the TK-3.

An LF-4 flies by a Red Eliminator which it set fire to. The LF-4, technically speaking, didn't directly destroy the Eliminator, but the fire in the wing would ultimately finish it off. This marks the first Red Eliminator kill of the Scourge War.

We oughta give the F-200A Reaver some respect to be honest. Two of these tiny, old planes were sent out to provide area denial, or fodder at the very least, seeing as their history made it believed that they would be quite weak. But they held their own against the Scourge Jets, downing a couple Red Opponents, such as here.

Another Red Opponent C goes down in flames, critically damaged by one of the two F-200As.

Yet another destroyed Red Opponent, struck by one of the F-200A's FRCM S-25M missiles.

The old F-200A demonstrates the liability that is assuming fate. This Red Eliminator A fired a burst at the Reaver, landing a blow which set fire to one of its fuel tanks. The Eliminator began its escape, beliving the F-200 would succumb to the fire. However, the Reaver was saved by its self-sealing fuel tanks, and would gun down the Eliminator, making it the second ever Red Eliminator downed.

8:21 A.M.

By eight in the morning, the siege was over. All ground attack units had left, and the MDA would nearly sweep in the air battle, only "losing" a PEA-G F-5 and A-10, both of which were recovered and are being repaired after the battle. However, it wouldn't end without further incident, as one of the two surviving Red Eliminators would broadcast a morse code message:

".. / - --- .-.. -.. / ... -.-. --- ..- .-. --. . / - .... .- - / .-- . / -. . . -.. . -.. / - --- / -... .-. .. -. --. / ..-. ..- .-.. .-.. / ..-. --- .-. -.-. . .-.-.- / .- .-.. .-.. / -.-- --- ..- .----. ...- . / -.. --- -. . / - --- -.. .- -.-- / .. ... / --. .. ...- . / .... .. -- / .-. . .- ... --- -. / - --- / .-.. .. ... - . -. .-.-.-"

We don't know if this message is a genuine warning or a simple bluff, but either way, one thing is clear: the MDA will have to up their game. Well, soon, at least. Before that can happen, the base will need to be repaired, seeing as several vehicles and buildings were destroyed, as well as Yeager's only land connection to the Krakabloa mainland. The motto from here will be "repair and resurge," reflecting our mission to fix what was destroyed and strike back as quickly as possible.

That's not all though!

A new Scourge Jet has appeared.

Following the SCOURGE's war-starting strike on Wright, the Antetus Alliance forces there have upped their defenses as much as possible with new weaponry we have yet to see. They've also received a lot of support from the new generation of PEAs...

And I mean a lot of support.

However, while the Alliance prepares their weapons on the ground, PEAs have been guarding the skies, and recently noticed a strange, never-before seen Scourge Jet.

An F-2A narrowly dodges an attack from the new enemy.

These new fighters have been dubbed "Opponent-Plus" by the PEAs, as while they lack much visual semblence to the Red Opponent, their fighting style indicates they have a similar purpose- though they execute it better. PEAs that have fought the new threats have considered them dangerous rivals, and made several comparisons to the Red Opponent:

Similarities:
-Both fight incredibly aggressively, even if this results in a loss of strategic thinking
-Both aircraft seem to use two gatling guns.
-The new aircraft always travel in packs of 4 or 5, a trait seen on the Red Opponents as well. Unlike the Red Opponents, though, only one breaks off to attack while the others keep flying, as opposed to the Opponents who all strike at once.

Pros and Cons:
+The "Opponent Plus" is considerably faster than the Red Opponent C.
+Both guns are mounted slightly behind the cockpit, allowing for much easier and more accurate aim as opposed to the Red Opponent whose guns may have a slight misalignment due to being under the fuselage.
=The Red Opponent has a faster turn time than this new fighter, but it can roll much faster than any other Scourge Jet so far, meaning it remains an equally slippery enemy.
-The Red Opponent is smaller and lighter, making it a theoretically harder target to hit than the new jet.
+The Opponent-Plus can carry air-to-ground munitions, a feature not present on the original Opponent (save for the E-variant whose missiles are all-purpose).
+Opponent-Pluses can possibly fly without a tail due to a secondary fin behind the cockpit. This is solely speculation though.

But despite their abilities and advantages over the Red Opponents, the PEAs were able to beat two after tough battles:

An F/A-18F sets fire to one of the mysterious new fighters. It would actually survive the blaze, and the Hornet would allow it to retreat.

The F/A-18 showed the new Scourge Jet some mercy. The F-2A forgot how to turn off the trigger and completely destroyed the one it was chasing.

Summary

Of today's events:

-No better way to start the day than getting bombed by Red Dash-Strikes!
-Red Opponent Cs and Red Eliminator As follow the Dash-Strike attacks to engage in aerial combat.
-The MDA ultimately repels the Scourge Jets with a sweeping win in the aerial game.
-A message broadcasted by a Red Eliminator warns of higher threats in the future.
-A new Scourge Jet has appeared! Opponent-Plus might get confusing, so let's call him "Red Rival," aight?

That's all for The Scourge War "radio broadcast," tune in next time to hear more about the War's events.

Yes, we have a radio now. No, I don't know why the PEAs have it. No, you're not taking it. Let me have this.

The SCOURGE is getting bolder, attacking the MDA base head on...

Also, the lil' F-200A is an older plane with a few quirks, I have no idea how it survived this long lol

@JSTQ Ah, KE. What a disaster that was.

@Graingy From my understanding as one of the players, it was merely paused. The reason is likely that many people were dissatisfied with the extensive RP at the time (though I believe a significant part of the reason was due to the other server, KE-RP).
However, only TUPL knows the exact reason.

Thanks to the support of the MDA and particularly the PEA, the enemy's current threat to Wright Island is not very significant. At present, we can basically handle the situation relying on our air force and air defense capabilities. More container trucks are heading to the outpost; they will be used to upgrade our defenses and to start constructing a dock. This may temporarily leave Wright Island in a vulnerable state, but it is a risk we need to take.
*Please stay safe on your end as well. *
    Over.

MDA? Well well, that is not a name I have heard in a very long time.
Say, whatever happened to M-War II? Did that ever reach a true conclusion, or did it merely fizzle out?
