i feel like there is something wrong with this plane

50.3k Boeing727200F  yesterday

i was working on a taildragger attack aircraft, but something seems wrong.
it always tips forward (easy to fix ik) and something just looks, wrong with it.
i cant tell what is wrong with it.

here it is

this is also a prototype, so to expect changes to the design as i continue to work on it.

ok to explain the design of the aircraft
this thing is a late cold war-early modern design for a low cost and rugged attack aircraft (design is somewhat like a mix of late A-1 skyraiders and of some WW2 torpedo bombers) designed exclusively for desert conditions.
the high wings are a thing because this thing needs to carry a shit ton of very heavy ordinance on the wings thanks to the supercharger below the cockpit. thanks to that it is a slow cumbersome attack aircraft. but hey it will be armor less for lore reasons. :D
the wing tip tanks will ether get removed or shrunk down but they are there to cover vast stretches of desert without landing.
yes i will try to change out the engine with something better and fix the gear but this is just an early prototype.

I think it looks really nice, like the A-1H and the helldiver mixed!

looks like a pretty good design, especially as a post ww2 design. since massive turbocharger systems wouldnt be needed for an attack aircraft like this, and i think the high wings could work, as long as there is an adequate reason to have the wings high up (such as a bomb bay or other secret compartment under the wing box) because otherwise you would be designing landing gear that is simply impractically long in order to have decent ground clearance and is basically wasted extra mass for no good reason. you can look at the BTD Destroyer to see why the wing box had to be so high; it had a massive bomb bay, one that could conceal an entire torpedo, and to keep the landing gear from being ridiculously long, they decided to crank the wings into an inverted gull shape.
    .
also those top tanks are feaking massive like what are the range requirements for this thing

@Boeing727200F I've no idea what this "Azer" you speak of is.

Move the wings lower. Generally, the position of the wings that you currently have would be more suitable for a twin-engine aircraft (the DH Mosquito or the P-38, for instance); the vast majority of single-engine fighters and attack aircraft had the wings mounted below the fuselage centerline, often all the way at the bottom of the fuselage. This is true for not just WWII but also well into the Cold War and the early jet era (e.g. the Century series or the F-4 Phantom II).

I'd also suggest making the tip tanks a bit smaller, but that's up to you.

@Graingy this shitbox is a more recent built plane.
    like, late-ish cold war design.
yeah, goes with Azer's lore (still working on that btw if you wonder)
it is also designed to carry a large payload of bombs.
albeit it will 120% die trying.

In light of what jamesPLANESii said, this aircraft looks rather more like an exotic prototype, or other more unusual aircraft, than a typical WWII fighter.
That's not to say it's unrealistic looking in its entirety, it just looks weird if played off as an average WWII plane.
With the current appearance it gives the vibe that there's something unusual about it and how it works. Almost F-80 with a radial engine propeller on the front.
    Or Do 335.

For taildraggers, your landing gear should be decently in front of your CoM. I'd recommend shifting your main wings forward quite a bit and also lowering them.
    .
It also looks awkward because your cockpit is too far forward and your engine is too small. WWII aircraft are designed on the philosophy of attaching the biggest engine possible to the smallest airframe possible while still having room for weapons and armour. The front of the aircraft on radial aircraft is often taken up by cannons or guns, and usually the oil sump is located behind the engine. Plus a lot of them have stuff like turbocharger and supercharger ducts behind the engines. Another reason WWII aircraft have quite rearward cockpits is to counteract the weight of the heavy engine up front with the armour needed around the cockpit.
    .
I would highly recommend taking a look at real WWII aircraft with a similar role to the one you're making and take design cues and proportions off them. Key things to look at would be where they position their wings and the position of their cockpits in relation to the wings and the engine.

@Boeing727200F Leading edge is pretty simple technique. Not much depth to it.

    @Graingy jesus you are fast
remember, im newer to the leading edge thingy or whatever, i do not really know how to do that and make it looks good.
the cockpit originates from the B-208 but was resized down for my AD-5, a smaller jetfighter built by a country who doesnt know how to build descent aircraft, i just tend to reuse B-208 parts as i severely overengineered that aircraft for my standards. yes the leading edge thingys do originate from the B-208. but, the wings come from an old fighter project that has been on hold for god knows how long.
im just struggling to build wings for prop planes.

Maybe make the leading edge fuselage sharper too. Being so round looks a bit odd with such a flat wing. Or make the wing thicker, idk

    Looks fine to me, mostly.
Cockpit looks like it belongs on a much larger aircraft (1.5-2x size) and the wingtip tanks are rather large.
